Yesterday, we began our Stewardship campaign to fund our church’s budget for 2027. The theme for this year’s campaign is “There Our Hearts Will Be.”
Wherever we go, we cannot escape the reality of rising prices - groceries, gasoline, clothing, utilities, insurance of every kind.

I’ve been a member here a number of years, and some time ago I discovered that you, all of you, are a pretty intelligent lot. So you know that our church is experiencing these same significant increases, particularly utilities, building maintenance, and insurance. And these are the expenses that only maintain our building but do not expand our mission outside our building.
Today, I invite you to think beyond the realities of income and those expenses. What is it that you want to support? What institutions, organizations, missions, communities align with your values? With your heart?
This is the season of yard signs. I saw a new one yesterday – Hate will not make us great. Those are six powerful words, aren’t they? Of all the organizations that I support and all those that I would like to support, it is the church, our church, that teaches love. How to accept love, how to share love and what love looks like outside our building.
As we consider our financial commitment or recommitment to our church during the next few weeks of the Stewardship campaign, let’s be guided by Matthew 6:21, the scripture that inspired this year’s theme: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” So simple. We’ve known the words since childhood. Now as adults we consider and act on its challenge.
Please plan to attend worship on November 15, Consecration Sunday, when we will turn in our pledge cards during the service. Together. As a faith community.
Commitment Cards for 2027 Pledges are available from the church office, anytime.
