Regional Stay Home Order Updates and Reminders
In order to curb the rapidly escalating surge in COVID hospitalizations, Santa Clara County implemented the Regional Stay Home Order last Sunday, December 6, 2020, and will remain in effect until Monday, January 4, 2021.
The Regional Stay Home Order prohibits private gatherings of any size, closes salons, barbershops, and personal service, while critical infrastructure and retail can remain open at 20% capacity, and requires 100% masking and physical distancing. Restaurants must also close outdoor dining and may only operate take-out or delivery. As of today, December 10, playgrounds will be allowed to re-open under the Regional Stay Home Order. Park restrooms will remain closed. As a reminder, non-essential work, movement, and gatherings must stop between 10PM and 5AM. This will remain in effect until December 21, at 5AM.
This year we ask residents to re-think the holiday season to celebrating traditions at home. For the safety of you, your family, and the community, please wear a face covering, maintain a physical distance, wash your hands, and refrain from gathering or traveling. Now more than ever it is important that we work together to slow the spread of COVID-19. For more information on Los Altos' precautionary measures implemented to mitigate coronavirus, please visit losaltosca.gov/covid19.

Red Cross Blood Drive
On December 4, the City of Los Altos hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive at the Los Altos Youth Center. Thirty-three donors gave blood, resulting in a total of 34 productive units (28 Whole Blood, 6 Power Red), towards a goal of 40.
Their blood donations will help patients in the hospital, where blood transfusions may be given to patients with serious injuries; in surgery; in child birth; and in treatment for anemia, blood disorders, cancer treatments, and many others. See How Blood Donations Help and What Happens to Donated Blood.
