Hotel Toiletries Targeted by Maine Lawmakers in Latest Environmental Push | | |
The Maine Legislature recently introduced a bill that would prohibit hotels from providing single-use plastic toiletry containers to guests. The ban would take effect on January 1, 2030, for hotels with more than 50 rooms, and it would impact hotels with fewer than 50 rooms in 2032. Hotels that do not comply with the law will face a civil violation and a $100 fine.
AAHOA sent an Advocacy Alert to Maine members about this issue, calling on them to contact their representatives in an effort to prevent this legislation from moving forward.
