REPORT YOUR STEPS SOON!

Team Captains,

Week 4 of Miles for Wellness Challenge 34 ends Sunday, October 25. This means your second check-in is soon. Please remind your team members to send their tracking sheets to you on Monday, October 26.

Once you have received your team members' steps, update your Captain's Spreadsheet and submit it in the bi-weekly reporting form before the end-of-day, Wednesday, October 28.

TIPS FOR COMPLETING THE BI-WEEKLY CHECK-IN FORM

  • Search for your team's name by typing it or selecting it from the dropdown menu.
  • The step total you need to report can be found in the blue box on your Captain's Spreadsheet, located in the top right corner.
  • DO NOT use commas or decimals when reporting your team's total step count.
  • Only upload your Captain's Spreadsheet. DO NOT upload individual participant sheets.

REPORTING ACCURATE STEPS

Please be sure your team members are accurately reporting their steps.

If someone is using a smartwatch, pedometer, step-counting app, or other fitness tracker while participating in physical activity, they should not use the exercise conversions in the participant tracking sheet to report those steps. They are already accounted for in their daily step activity within the tracker.

For help with how to record steps and complete the participant tracking sheet, watch the Participant Guide Video.

MOTIVATION TO KEEP YOUR TEAM MOVING

Help your team members meet their goals with these motivational tips.

MOVE MORE IN YOUR WORKDAY

The American Heart Association offers great way to increase your activity at work:

  • Stand or move every time you make or answer a phone call.
  • Boost energy by marching in place or doing office strength and balance exercises while on a long meeting.
  • Keep small hand weights or a resistance band at your desk for bicep curls, lateral raises, rows, and overhead presses.
  • Take a 10-minute workout break to boost brain power.
  • Form a virtual walking club at work.
  • Go for a walk at exactly the same time with your team, but on your own.
  • Create an online chat where you can post photos and chat with your walking group.
  • Talk to a team member on the phone while you walk.
  • Burn calories and reduce stress by creating your own workout routine.

MAKE MOVEMENT A HABIT

WHAT KEEPS YOUR TEAM MOTIVATED?

Whether it’s a go-to mantra, a playlist that fires you up, or a workout you can’t get enough of, we want to hear what inspires you and your team. When you submit your bi-weekly step totals, share your wins in the comments—what keeps you going when you feel like quitting, what lifts your energy, or anything else that keeps you moving.
