Thank You and Hello, Friends!
Now that the final results are in (and the government shutdown is over), I wanted to send a note of thanks to all of you who made the HUGELY successful campaign possible.
Our race helped make possible the thrilling wins for our new Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General. And helped spur our nearly supermajority in the House of Delegates, which will help Governor Spanberger get good things done!
Although my race did not garner the number of votes we needed to send me to Richmond, I am so proud of the work we did and the success we achieved together.
With your help, we ran a community-centered campaign, fueled by compassion, fostered by hope, and working toward a day when our neighbors are more important than our divisions. Along the way, we turned out more than 15,300 people to vote for me (just a few hundred votes shy of our Abigail's total in my district). That represents an average of 49.25% improvement over the votes we gained in 2023.
Some additional notable achievements, together we:
-
Knocked on more than 14,000 Doors across the district
-
Made 6,000 Phone calls to voters
-
Sent 10,000 Postcards to neighbors across the district
- Reached 350,000 people with our radio, digital, and video ads online and via streaming TV.
- Out-raised our opponent 2 to 1, and encouraged contributions by grassroots donors (less than $100) by MORE than 10 to 1.
As many of you have heard me say, throughout my life, I took care of people in my family and community. I know first-hand how critical it is for us to have compassion for others' struggles. In my career, I discovered that advocating for issues like better access to healthcare and ensuring our civil rights are real for every body, as another way to care for your community. I had hoped to bring my commitment to service, my core value of compassion, and my call to care for others as your Delegate in Richmond.
In the coming months, I will seek other ways to serve my community across the 62nd District. In the meantime, I encourage you to stay vigilant, stay involved, and stay hopeful. No matter what comes, we will be, and have always been, better together.
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank each and every person who gave their time, treasure, energy, care, and commitment to this campaign, to me personally, and to our community at large. You all are the true stars in this show, and the bedrock of the success of this campaign.
With Deep Gratitude,
