After the Storm

This is what 250 cubic feet per second of water looks like. Drone footage taken Monday, November 2, above DFLT’s PA Seitts Preserve shows Cave Creek running high after this past weekend’s storm, which brought nearly 4 inches of rain to the area, and more further north. At its peak, the creek was flowing at nearly 3,000 cubic feet per second, the strongest flow since 2014!

Please use caution around flowing streams, which can be stronger and more dangerous than they look. And be a good steward of the desert: let the soil dry out before you hike. Walking on saturated trails causes erosion and damage that lasts long after the water is gone.

Desert Foothills Land Trust connects people to nature by working with communities and partners to conserve and steward sensitive lands and species for the survival of our fragile Sonoran Desert.

We're proud to be your local land trust.
