Children of the Night Caseworkers Pictured Above

John, her birth name; is transgender & identifies as a female.
She called from San Diego and
our case managers
Rescued her from a Pimp on 04/21/23.

She called the hotline at 2:30 am
searching for help.

She wanted us to get her to a safe place.

Multiple shelters were called but they either were full, or no one answered.

Case Manager, Meliza, transported her to
UC San Diego Health Emergency Services and she was able to spend the night.

Our Case Managers followed up with John
in the morning and provided her with transportation to a day shelter to get breakfast.

She did not feel safe staying in California so our Case Managers helped her find a resource that could help her with transportation.

They found an agency to provide a one-way ticket to a safe shelter out of state.

Case Managers will help her enroll in
our one on one ZOOM tutoring for her high school diploma.

They will help her apply for food stamps & public health insurance.

They will also help her with
her resume and job search.
.

Janet completed our one on one
high school diploma program and
we helped her apply and pay for
“Bravo Security School” where she
will obtain her Guard card and
unarmed/ armed permit.

Ida graduated from our ZOOM High School Tutoring Program Last Year.
GED program (last year).

Our case managers helped her apply to Lindsey Hopkins Technical College,
where she will obtain her certificate
as an esthetician.

We have also helped her with her
school supplies and uniforms.
Teresa,18 years old, lives in Florida.

She is a child who had aged out of foster care without a high school diploma.

She enrolled in our ZOOM High School Diploma tutoring program at the end of February 2023.

In just 2 months she completed the requirements for the
High School Diploma in Florida.

She obtained excellent passing scores
in all the subjects:
Reasoning through Language Arts,
Math, Science and Social Studies.

She will be enrolling in Miami Dade Community College and wants to
become a teacher.

She loves working with children.
Her Children of the Night tutor stated,

“Teresa is a bright and smart student.
She was always very diligent during her tutoring session.

She was very shy, but when asked
what her plans were for the future, she told me she would like to attend college
for two years and get her associates.

She told me that she would like to be an elementary teacher and she explained she really likes children, and
would like to teach them.”

Christopher lives in Cuenca, Ecuador,
and enrolled in Children of the Night’s
ESL tutoring program in April 2021,
when he was 15 years old, and
has been studying and practicing
English with us since then.

He has made such a great advancement and has been accepted to one of the best high schools in Cuenca,
where he was awarded a scholarship.

Recently, he took the
Cambridge English exam,
which follows the
Common European Framework of Reference, and
from 400 students,
he was one of the 40 who passed.

He placed at level B1 independent user,
which is good enough to function in
English-speaking
workplaces, schools, and college.

He is exactly at the level required to be accepted and to graduate from universities in Ecuador.

Christopher wishes to enter university and study Robotics after
graduating from high school.
.

We do not sit behind our desks
and wait for our young people
to fall back on the streets.

We are out on the streets and in the community where our children live.

We pay close attention to our young people we have rescued from the street
and we maintain contact with them
for several years.

Children of the Night is unlike other organizations who rescue and dump these children on government social services.

Children of the Night staff is committed
to every little detail required for
transition to a successful adult life.
Private donations make our
life saving work
possible and distinguish
Children of the Night
from other organizations funded by government where
one size fits all.

Our staff stands alone in
their commitment to
the children with whom we work.

We simply cannot do the work we do
without you.

You have supported our efforts to help prostituted youth, and
you have saved lives with your support.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
