From Your Administrative Team

Greetings Families,

Thank you to everyone in our community for thoughtfully facilitating, participating in, and celebrating Student Led Conferences last week! It was great to see so many students and families engaged in sharing their learning, and collaborating with teachers on next steps for learning success. We appreciate your dedication to this Da Vinci signature practice!

We will be participating in the Great Shakeout by participating in Earthquake Drills on Campus on 10/19 and 10/24. Teachers will support students in practicing Drop, Cover, and Hold and evacuation procedures with the support of the rest of our team.

Mark your calendars! The next Coffee with Kaitlin and Robin in happening on campus Monday 10/30 and Friday 11/3 after morning drop off. Come to connect, learn more about each other and our community, and bring any wonderings you might have! We will be visiting classrooms next week to hear from our students about what's working during body break, how they're feeling after breaks, and what opportunities for play might be missing in our community! We will use some of our time together to share out what we learned from our students, and will be interested in hearing feedback from you, too!

Finally, thank you to everyone who has taken our short survey! We recognize that the survey link might look like spam--it's not! Our survey name is coming from Kelvin--if you haven't taken it yet, we encourage you to do so. Your feedback is so valuable!

Enjoy Your Weekend,

Kaitlin (She/Her) and Robin (She/Her)

Red Ribbon Week!

Oct. 23rd-27th

Wear RED on 10/24 and 10/26!

What Is Red Ribbon Week? It is a way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs and celebrate healthy lifestyle choices and habits. We hope to have students show their personal commitment to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle through participation in various activities October 23 - 27th. We will have a “wear red day” and see health related content in classes and presentations.

This year’s theme is: “Be Kind To Your Mind. Live Drug Free”. We hope to strengthen anti-drug-use attitudes and norms through sharing information. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family. Ask your child to tell you about things they hear at school about Red Ribbon Week®!

Spirit Dress Up Days!

Friday 10/27 and Tuesday 10/31

To build excitement for our upcoming Fall Festival, and for those interested in celebrating Halloween at school, we are inviting our community to dress up in costume on 10/27 and 10/31! We ask that costumes are safe for all and do NOT include masks, weapons, gore, or other inappropriate graphics or accessories. We also ask that costumes do not appropriate identities or cultures--culture is not a costume. Finally, please make sure that costumes allow for learning and play--you can pack an extra pair of regular clothes just in case! Feel free to reach out to your classroom teacher for additional information on how kids might be celebrating.

We also ask that any Halloween candy is enjoyed at home and not shared at school.
