Hub's Strong Leader Series in the News!

By Mike Wenninger • Entrepreneurship • Sept 14, 2026

Strong Leader Series offers practical leadership training for Southwest Michigan

The Strong Leader Series offers Southwest Michigan professionals a three-part, hands-on opportunity to strengthen communication, strategic thinking and team-building skills while learning to lead more effectively.

Leadership rarely comes with an instruction manual. While some people seem to have a natural knack for leading, most develop their skills through experience, trial and error — and learning from others.

For Southwest Michigan professionals looking to become more effective leaders, the process can be accelerated by learning what makes a good leader, and an opportunity to do that is coming to this region soon. It’s called the Strong Leader Series, and the South Haven Regional Business Hub offers it as a three-part professional development experience designed to help leaders at every level increase their influence, think strategically, and bring out the best in others. Community Conversations with the South Haven Chamber of Commerce

This episode highlights three organizations that play an important role in helping the South Haven area thrive: the City of South Haven’s Downtown Development Authority, Visit South Haven, and the South Haven Regional Business Hub.

Learn who they are, what they do, and how working together with the South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce benefits our businesses and community. Listen here.

September Update

September's Growth Series took attendees past the halfway point with three impactful, practical workshops.

Attendees learned practical strategies for refining internal systems, preparing for future business growth, and integrating modern tools to boost day-to-day productivity.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Steven Cummings, Managing Partner at SPC Consulting, who presented "Developing Your Internal Processes for Consistency and Success;" Brad Scoffin, CEO of Advanced Business Advisors, who delivered "Building a Valuable & Sustainable Business;" and Logan Herzog, Executive Director at RISE, who presented "AI for Small Businesses."

The Growth Series is a cohort program designed for small business owners who have been operating for more than three years and are committed to scaling their operations and supports them through critical development stages while fostering a strong peer-learning network.

The PITCH Returns for 2026

Please join us for a celebration of entrepreneurial support and recognition of the graduates from our GROWTH Series as they pitch their business goals to our community.

The PITCH will take place Wednesday, December 2, at Lake Michigan College South Haven from 5:45 to 9 p.m.

The PITCH enters its fourth year this season, spotlighting Growth Series graduates as they present ambitious business goals to regional partners, mentors, sponsors, and investors.

Building on last year’s gathering of more than 115 business and community leaders, the 2026 event continues to connect growth-stage businesses with mentors, partners, and capital opportunities across Southwest Michigan.

The lasting impact of the program continues to show in the sustained progress of its alumni, who have leveraged the experience to:

  • Establish permanent physical locations and strengthen their footprint in the local community
  • Broaden their market reach into regional retail and distribution networks
  • Meet higher industry standards and qualifications to unlock higher-tier contracts
  • Build strategic partnerships that drive collaborative marketing and new economic activity into the region

Join us to support these entrepreneurs as they take the stage and help shape the future of our regional economy.

Amy Underwood, Pelvic Health Elevated

"Health Elevated," Berrien County’s only outpatient clinic dedicated entirely to pelvic health, is undergoing a rebrand to: "Pelvic Health Elevated." The St. Joseph clinic updated its branding to highlight its specialized focus across Southwest Michigan, treating concerns from postpartum recovery and pelvic pain to bowel and bladder issues.

"Pelvic health has always been at the heart of what we do," says owner and founder Amy Underwood, OTR/L. "Moving the word ‘Pelvic’ to the front makes our name as clear and focused as our mission. Our name and logo are changing, but patients can expect the same specialized, one-on-one care."

Amy is a 2005 Growth Series Graduate. Congratulations, Amy!

Tiffany Wood, Precision Syrups

One of our 2024 Growth Series Graduates, Tiffany Wood, is incredibly proud to announce that TWO Precision Syrups flavors have earned DOUBLE GOLD at the 2026 Zero Proof Choice Awards:
