"And the Tiara Goes to..." Everyone on Stage!

The highly anticipated Spring Dance Show, "And the Tiara Goes to...", was performed before an appreciative crowd of MFA families and supporters on May 31 & June 1 at Trinity High School in River Forest. For those wondering who would win the tiara - the answer is everyone! The crown was awarded to ALL the gifted performers who left everything they had on the dance floor as well as ALL who were fortunate enough to attend. The stage was filled with enough stars to light the galaxy!

Spring Music Recitals - A Feast for the Ears!

Maywood Fine Arts hosted seven Music Recitals in May with well over 150 students showcasing their skills in piano, guitar, drums, voice, saxophone and more! Every year the talent on display runs deeper and the performances become more polished thanks to the dedicated mutual efforts put forth by our Music teachers and their students. Bravo!!

This year's recitals were particularly meaningful thanks to the acquisition of five new classroom pianos and a gorgeous recital piano. These pianos were fully paid for by Maywood Fine Arts donors and we are infinitely grateful to all who contributed with a special shoutout going to the family and friends of Richard McKee. They raised the funds needed to pay for our Kayserburg recital piano as a way of paying tribute to the McKee family's musical legacy.

We want our piano donors to know that these sweet-sounding pianos will have a positive impact on thousands of music students over the course of many years to come! THAT deserves a standing ovation!

Celebrating a Year in Art!

This year's Art Week was a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to come together to celebrate a year of colorful creation! Not only were parents given the chance to view ALL that their children had done while learning about various artists and techniques, but they were also able to create a special mask together as these photos show. We are so thankful to Asehli Howe, our Visual Arts teacher, for her commitment to Arts Education and for all the parents and students who were able to participate in this year's Art Week!

The Spotlight will always Shine on Coach Kayla!

It's impossible to imagine MFA's Tumbling Program without seeing Kayla Newsome front and center on the mat proclaiming "Ta Da"! She arrived on MFA's doorstep at the age of 3, learning to roll somersaults just after she had learned to walk and has been with us ever since.

With significant personal and professional changes coming down the pipeline for Coach Kayla, we will be supremely sad to see less of her in our gym, but no matter where she goes or how high she climbs in life, we are certain that she will stay connected to her "home away from home". Keep shining, Kayla, like the diamond that you are!

"I have loved being your coach! Watching you grow, not just as athletes, but as people! I will never stop rooting for each of you. Keep showing up, working hard, and being your best selves!

-from Coach Kayla to all her students
