DACC Students and Families,
During this busy time of year, we want to pause for a moment and let you know how proud we are of our DACC students. The end of the semester can be stressful, but what we have seen from our students is perseverance, creativity, and collaboration. Last week, many of our students took a courageous step to leave the familiarity of school and spend their day shadowing an industry professional. These types of experiences help our students become more confident in the path they are creating for their future and provide more clarity on how they can achieve their dreams.
We're grateful to the business partners who hosted our students and we're looking forward to providing more college and career exploration opportunities to our students.

Each item collected is worth a certain number of points and the lab that earns the most points will win a pizza party. See the points system here.

Supporting Your Working Teen
|
|
Many DACC students are employed in a part-time job or they may be looking for a job. A part-time job is not just a means for extra spending money, it is also a great way for teens to explore careers and learn about work environments while also gaining valuable employability skills such as communication, time management, and problem-solving.
Though the benefits of a part-time job are many, it is also important to keep a balance between work and school. DACC is here to help support your teen as they navigate the world of part-time work.

National Influenza Vaccination Week, December 5-11, is a call to all Americans 6 months and older to get their annual seasonal flu vaccine if they have not already. Seasonal Influenza remains a significant public health concern, and this week will serve as a reminder that there is still time to get a flu vaccine, the only vaccine that protects against flu, to prevent flu illness and potentially serious complications.
Take everyday preventive actions that are recommended to reduce the spread of flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it then wash your hands.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with viruses that cause flu.
- If you or a family member test positive for Influenza, CDC recommends that people stay home for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone except to get medical care or other necessities. Fever should be gone without the need to use a fever-reducing medicine.
Seasonal flu vaccines are available through Delaware Public Health Department, local pharmacies and medical providers. Protect your family from the flu this holiday season---get your flu shot!
