A Message from our National Director amid the COVID-19 Pandemic
Summertime Chi is my favorite time of the year. It is a time of renewed excitement, family togetherness, and the enjoyment of the outdoors. Summer has come to represent optimism, positivity, hope for the future, and joy. Summer represents life and endless opportunities that await. Despite the optimism and joy that summer often brings, the season can also bring forth tragedy.
Disheartening recent news events have shown just how fragile the lives of children really are. Such stories have illustrated that senseless violence can impact even the smallest communities. However, such stories have also amplified that we all have the power to come together to support and uplift others during their time of need.
We must protect our most precious commodity --- our children. We must do all we can to ensure that our children are whole and can be the best versions of themselves --- full of confidence and promise. That is exactly the impact that Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation has in the lives of the children it serves.
As we celebrate the eighth anniversary of Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation's inception this month, we reflect upon how far the organization has come while realizing there is still meaningful work to be done and many more lives to impact through the gift of reconstructive surgeries. Many are still facing income and health insurance loss despite the tremendous strides made since the COVID-19 pandemic began more than two years ago. Patients are able to receive the surgeries deemed cosmetic by insurance companies because Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation fills the void left unfilled by insurance companies. In that manner, Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation embodies the optimism, positivity, hope for the future, joy, and opportunities the season of summer represents.
For the last eight years, we at Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation and our generous volunteers and donors have been fully committed to our mission of transforming lives --- one surgery at a time. The 2022 Celebrity Golf Classic - Hosted by Jermaine Dye (Chicago White Sox, 2005 World Series MVP) was held on May 22-23, 2022 at Rich Harvest Farms (7S771 Dugan Road, Sugar Grove, IL 60554).
The event featured a PXG Celebrity Shootout, a Celebrity Golf Classic Pre-Tournament Dinner, and a golf tournament with VIP celebrities and the opportunity to mingle with MLB, NFL, and LPGA friends as well as other celebrities. Attendees had a very memorable and exciting time as we raised money to support low-income, uninsured, and underinsured children with physical deformities through comprehensive healthcare treatments at no cost to their families. Proceeds benefit Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation in its mission to provide children with no-cost reconstructive surgery and follow-up medical care.
