Dear Residents,

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and spent lots of time with family and friends making lasting memories. I enjoyed mine, even if it did go by way too fast.

But summer is not officially over yet, so let’s make the most of it while we still can. And there’s no better time to start than tonight at “Splashdown in Orangetown” – an adult night at the Veterans Memorial Park splash pad to benefit the Penguin Plunge. It starts at 6 pm, and there will be food and ice cream available for purchase, and of course children are welcome. For more details, see below.

The summer fun continues tomorrow at the First Annual Tim O’D Fest at the German Masonic Park. Doors will open at 1:30 pm, admission is free, and donations will support People to People. With approximately 18 musical groups performing between 2 pm and 8 pm, there is sure to be a music genre for everyone to enjoy.

And, while we’re at it, why not hit up either the Pearl River Farmers Market (Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm) or the Piermont Farmers Market (Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm)? And, if you are 60 years of age or older and meet certain income limitations, the town has coupons available to be used toward the purchase of fresh fruit and vegetables at participating vendors. For more information, please contact Allison at (845) 359-5100 x2293.

Next Thursday marks the 24th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The Orangetown PBA will be hosting its ceremony at 5 pm at Orangetown Town Hall. Please see below for a list of local services being held to commemorate this tragic day.

I hope to see some of you at Veterans Memorial Park later this evening but, whatever you decide to do, have a wonderful weekend!

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

2025 Orangetown Night at Clover Stadium

📸Pete Byrne

Supervisor Kenny, Councilmen Brian Donohue and Dan Sullivan, and Superintendent of Highways Jim Dean were on hand to celebrate Orangetown Night at Clover Stadium. Highlights of the evening included Troy Murphy and Harry Mirijanian throwing out the ceremonial first pitch; musical performances by Catie Gorton, Danny Gurniak, and Rita Harvey; Boy Scout Troop 55 performing the honor guard service; our Orangetown little leaguers parading around the field; and Senator Weber presenting the trophy for the most units of blood collected during the Senator’s Five Towns of Rockland Blood Drive Challenge. All in all, it was a wonderful night celebrating community spirit.

West Washington Avenue Road Closure

Please be advised that West Washington Avenue (from Old Pascack Road to Washington Place) will be closed starting Monday (September 8th) to Friday (September 12th) to complete paving and striping operations . The road will be closed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Please see attached detour plan for your reference.

On September 11, 2001, the unthinkable happened. An entire nation reeled in shock as we struggled to come to grips with the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest loss of rescue personnel in a single event in American history. We grieved for family, friends, coworkers, and strangers, and we pledged to commemorate and rebuild, vowing never to forget.

Never Forget

Remember we all have a responsibility to keep our communities safe. If you see something, say something.
