September 2026 - Blood Cancer Awareness Month | |
Word from our CEO
"September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize everyone affected by blood cancers (including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma) and to stand alongside the organizations and communities working to improve their lives. [...] We are proud to stand in solidarity with people affected by all blood cancers. Although diagnoses and experiences may differ, our communities share many of the same challenges: receiving a timely diagnosis, finding reliable information, navigating a complex healthcare system, and gaining equitable access to promising treatments."

The 2026 Multiple Myeloma March is underway
Thanks to the generosity of marchers and donors across Canada, we have already surpassed the halfway mark, raising over $725,000. This is a major milestone that reflects the dedication of everyone who has shown up this season. Our goal is $950,000, and with so many Marches still ahead, we are confident we can get there together.

Carvykti: One year later
September 18, 2026, marked one year since the initial pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) negotiations for Carvykti (ciltacabtagene autoleucel), concluded without agreement. Thanks to your advocacy, a new round of negotiations began in early February 2026, yet people with multiple myeloma are still waiting to access this potentially life-changing treatment.
Throughout 2026, Myeloma Canada and our community members have advocated for Carvykti and the broader importance of timely access to innovation, through 14 meetings with government officials across a number of provinces, and by keeping this critical issue in the media.
Though we don’t yet know if these negotiations will be successful, we do know that nearly three years is far too long for patients to wait. Myeloma Canada remains committed to making our community’s voices heard by decision-makers across Canada’s health systems, and will continue working to ensure Canadians with myeloma can access to the best care and treatment.

Spotlight on Garnet Caplette
"[My wife] Christina and I are both working professionals, we have a very big family, and we’ve always loved to travel. We’ve travelled across all the provinces together, visited family, and travelled through parts of the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean. We’ve also been lucky enough to travel farther afield.
It’s a pretty normal life. Or at least, it was until we heard the words “multiple myeloma."
