"Upon the subject of education. . . I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people may be engaged in."
Abraham Lincoln
Dear Southern Door Community,
We often hear from new families, or visitors to our school, the "family feeling" they encounter here which has not been experienced in other settings. As educators who work with our families to prepare our students to be college, career, and community ready, we focus on student achievement. We also focus on what it means to be a caring citizen in our world.
That culture of caring for others also extends to others. Recently, a WIAA official was assisted with a health need. The following note we received is a great testimony to what is the Southern Door way:
"Fortunately, for one of the first times since I started officiating, I felt the school genuinely cared about my well being. I'd like to thank your Athletic Director, the officers working that night, and everyone who helped me get into my wife's vehicle that evening! It was definitely a breath of fresh air to see people helping other people, especially a high school basketball referee!"
And lastly, thank you to our Southern Door families, staff, friends, businesses, and community for their generosity which raised over $62,035 for the Cerebral Palsy program. What great ambassadors our students are for all of Southern Door!
Together with students, families and community, we continue to show others that we Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
Patti
Patricia Vickman, Superintendent
