| Celebrating Our Community: Our Unified Event Calendar | |
Dear AL Community,
We believe that learning goes far beyond the classroom. It truly happens when we celebrate our diverse backgrounds, showcase our academic growth, and come together as one school family. To help our community stay connected, we are excited to share our Academic and Cultural Events Calendar!
This calendar was designed with three key goals in mind:
- Harmonize academic events across the Armour, Cherry, and Oak campuses.
- Instill a deep sense of belonging for every student and staff member.
- Promote active involvement from our parents and the wider Kansas City community.
We have a wonderful lineup of themes and events designed to inspire and educate. Please note that celebrations are district-wide unless otherwise specified:
-
September: Hispanic Heritage Month
-
October: Health & Safety Month
-
November: Native American Heritage Month
-
January & February: Lunar New Year and K-5 Literacy Night
-
February: Black History Month
-
March: Women’s History Month, STEAM Night, and Francophonie Celebration (Armour)
-
May: Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and K-5 Journées Culturelles
By aligning our academic goals with these cultural celebrations, we ensure every student feels valued while providing opportunities for families to engage with our schools. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
Wishing all of our students, staff, and families a restful, safe, and happy spring break!

| | Musketeer March 2026: Registration is Open! | | |
Registration for the 2026 Musketeer March is open! Our goal is to raise $85,000 to support classroom supplies, building improvements, field trips, after-school programs and teacher support. Register your K–12 students for free today at mybooster.com.
ALIHS students: 50% of your funds raised go to your International Trip account and roll over each year!
The fundraiser ends with a K–5 Fun Run and a 6–12 Color Run!
We also need volunteers — especially at Armour. Only registered volunteers can attend, so sign up here if you can help. Merci!

Académie Lafayette's annual Evening in Paris auction and gala is one of our largest fundraisers - a celebration of our incredible school community and a chance to come together in support of our students!
Silent auction items have started rolling in...and they are real show-stoppers. You are going to want a chance at these! Silent auction bidding starts Friday, May 1.
Grab your tickets for EIP 2026 today!
We could also really use a few extra hands behind the scenes. If you are available to help with event set-up or tear-down, please reach out to Hollie Vogel at hvogel@academielafayette.org. Every bit helps!
| | Ethnic Food Fest: Thank You | | |
Thank you AL community! This year's Ethnic Food Festival raised over $10,000. Across all of our international travel fundraisers this year, we've raised more than $22k. Both are record years thanks to your incredible support!
Our commitment is to make an international trip affordable for every ALIHS student who wants to take one. To that end, the board pays 25% of each kid's trip cost; our students participate in fundraisers like the 5k and Food Fest to raise the next 25%, and our scholarship fund contributes up to another 20% for families who need it the most. We simply could not realize this dream without our community's incredible generosity. Thank you! Thank you!

Get in the game and help build excitement around AL athletics! Join us for the next Booster Club meeting on March 25, 2025, at 6:30 pm at the Oak campus.
The Booster Club supports all AL student-athletes by promoting school spirit, encouraging community involvement, and fostering sportsmanship across our athletic programs.
We’d love your energy and ideas. Come help us strengthen AL’s athletic community!

Building Next Year’s PTO Dream Team!
Did you know research shows that when families are engaged in school, students achieve more, attend more consistently, and feel more connected? Your involvement truly makes a difference.
We have several open PTO roles for next year from President and Secretary to Campus VPs and VIP Dance Coordinators. Whether you have a little time or a lot, there’s a place for you! Want to learn more? Reach out to PTO President Jeremy Foster at jfoster4219@outlook.com and let’s find the right fit for you. Together, we make our school stronger!
| | Wanted: ALIHS Professional Opportunities | | |
As summer approaches, our ALIHS students are eager to broaden their horizons and gain meaningful, real-world experience. We would love to partner with you! Our students bring skills and interests across a wide range of fields, including health care, coding, graphic design, engineering, journalism, education, and technical careers.
If you have an internship opportunity for high school students at your workplace, please reach out to Liz Seely at lseely@academielafayette.org. Even if your organization does not currently have a formal internship program, we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you to create a job shadow, project-based experience, or other meaningful way for a student to contribute.
