In 1973, Generations of Indian Valley began a Meals on Wheels program in partnership with a group of local clergy and volunteers. The program was developed and funded by the Montgomery County Office of Aging and now is in its 53rd year of service to the community.

Since its beginning, Generations’ Meals on Wheels program has expanded to include deliveries to the 15 surrounding municipalities that make up the Souderton Area School District and the North Penn School District. Two meals (one hot and one cold) are provided to each of our clients five days each week and all meals are prepared by Generations’ staff and volunteers in our commercial kitchen. As many as 150 clients are served a meal with fresh vegetables and fruit each day (300 meals) along with a daily visit.

CELBRATING 53 YEAR OF MEALS ON WHEELS

Meals on Wheels programs have a huge social and economic impact across the country. In fact, one year of Meals on Wheels is roughly the same cost as just one day in a hospital or six days in a long-term care facility. With more than 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day, the need for programs like Meals on Wheels is always growing.

CHAMBER SHOWCASE INFORMATION

The Chamber Showcase, a contribution-based feature that will be shared via the Chamber website, emails, and social media channels. All we ask is that you submit an article and photo(s) that we can use in this new regular feature. Our goal is to publish this column on a regular basis (bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the content we receive), so the more member businesses and organizations that send us material, the better. This can be content highlighting an employee, a milestone, or sharing your expertise on an industry topic.

We look forward to you participating in the project and helping us to promote you
