100 Years: Black American History and The Jefferson School
by Kate Duvall

Every February, Black History Month invites us to pause, reflect, and recommit to remembering the past honestly, honoring the present fully, and shaping a more just future together. This year carries special significance. As the nation recognizes the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, Charlottesville also marks a powerful local milestone the 100th anniversary of the Jefferson School. These shared centennials remind us that Black history is not abstract or distant. It lives in our neighborhoods, our institutions, and our collective memory. It is both national and deeply local.

After 15 years, Kati Naess is Retiring

Kati was already a veteran advocate of CASAs in Texas, DC, and Charlottesville when she joined the PCASA staff as a CASA Supervisor in 2011. She has since supervised 113 Advocates in the service of 290 children and youth. For 15 years her kindness, humor and wisdom have been the force behind the backpack drive and holiday gifts for CASA kids. Kati has been a sounding board, fount of institutional knowledge, sly wit, and friend, and Piedmont CASA is far stronger for it. If you would like to honor Kati's enduring legacy of work at PCASA, please consider a gift in her honor.

St Anthony Hall is Fostering Hope with PCASA

St Anthony Hall (Delta Psi) at the University of Virginia is partnering with PCASA on The Hall for Hope, a fundraising event dedicated to advocacy and opportunity for children in our community. All of the money raised by The Hall for Hope campaign will help PCASA recruit, train, and support our Advocates. This investment in hope equals an investment in the potential of every child.
