Virtual Website Launch on July 12th at 5:30 pm

To all PATA New York members, partners and friends,

We are cordially inviting you to the launch of our new website on Tuesday July 12th, 2022 from 5:30PM-6:30PM EDT. Our new website is a centralized place for all members and non-members to learn about PATA New York, our events, new features and content, membership benefits, as well as to sign up to become a member.

We have also integrated our member-only portal (WildApricot) into our website where members will be able to access additional member-only features including a directory, event calendar, and profile page.

During this meeting, our Chairman Joebert will provide information on this project and then our website team, led by Danny Cohanpour from Trove Tourism Development Advisors, will walk through the website and next steps.

We will send you the zoom link to join the meeting soon.

We’re so excited and can hardly wait to launch the first New York PATA website.

Please save the date. Thank you.

Best regards,

Elizabeth Chin

Technologies to Look Out for in 2022

Palace Museum Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s $450 million Palace Museum officially opened on 3 July 2022, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong. The museum is built roughly in the shape of a ding—a traditional Chinese cauldron. Rising five stories high and slanting outward as it climbs, the golden structure houses nine gallery spaces displaying 914 artifacts on loan from the Palace Museum in Beijing, otherwise known as the Forbidden City. According to the HKPM, its collection is “the largest and finest the Palace Museum has ever lent to another cultural institution since its establishment in 1925.”

The museum was financed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club—Hong Kong’s largest taxpayer and one of its largest charities, which also holds a monopoly on gambling licenses in the city. The government will foot the bill for half of the venue’s operating expenses; ticket sales will cover the rest. The museum can welcome 5,000 visitors per day and, as of last week, had already sold 70,000 at a price of roughly $6.

Summer is the season of warm and balmy weather, cool evening breezes, blue skies, casual clothes and lots of outdoor entertainment. Taking advantage of the brighter evenings also means that there is more time to spend with your loved ones or trying something new.

Whatever you do, we wish you a fabulous summer.

Best regards,
