2022 New Year Reflections

A message from Ruthman Companies Vice President and Owner, Thomas G. Ruthman
I am proud, as we enter the new year, to reflect on the amazing teamwork that has enabled us to navigate one of the most challenging periods we’ve faced. Through supply chain issues, inflation, a pandemic, and political upheaval, we’ve responded quickly, consistently, and with flexibility that has set us apart as a company.

Our employees view service, reliability and quality as real core values that we continue to strive to improve. It is clear to me that these values aren’t something the company imparts to its workers, but rather, it’s the individuals’ attitude of taking ownership in their work; their values that make our organization what it is and what it can be in the future.

Key in our success has been the flexibility and patience of our distribution partners. Your understanding as we worked through these global challenges has been immensely appreciated.

We welcomed some great new members to our team last year. I am excited by their hard work and enthusiasm. It’s truly exciting to see us progress toward our potential. What we have done got us here. But what can we be in the future? How far can our efforts take us?

As we face 2022, let us constantly look at how we, each of us, can improve. How can we help each other? What we do today is what we will have to look back on tomorrow. I wish for all of us that we look back on this new year with satisfaction, that we did our honest best. There can be no better.

Engineering Story: Gusher Pumps Integral to EV Manufacturer's High Production
A range of Gusher models installed at plant that produces nearly a car a minute

A Western US electric vehicle manufacturing facility that uses a host of Gusher pumps was recently named the highest producing US auto plant of 2021. The account is serviced by Ruthman distributor Wagner Process Equipment. Wagner supports more than 50 Gusher pumps across the plant’s e-coat and paint departments.

The busy plant produced an average of 8,550 vehicles a week last year. With pumps an integral part of the production line, it’s fair to speculate that Gusher’s dependable reliability contributed to consistently high production levels.

Bill Maupin Returns to Ruthman Companies
We're excited to welcome a familiar face back to our national Sales Team. Bill Maupin has been named Regional Sales Manager, Southeast for our Process Systems and Deming Vertical Turbine Pumps, Nagle Pumps, BSM Pump and Fulflo valves lines. The Gusher Pumps brand will continue to be covered by Gary Smith in the Southeast.

While new to this role, Bill is no stranger to Ruthman Companies, having served as Sales Manager, U.S. Western Operations for Gusher Pumps, California, before retiring in 2020. Prior to that, Bill was with our Wagner Process Equipment division for 26 years. .

Big Changes at Process System

New GM Makes Big Strides

With just under a year leading Process Systems, Chris Crawford is already making our vertical turbine pump division even better for its customers and employees.

Staff expansions, increased training, facities upgrades and new operations processes are delivering shortened lead times and enhanced customer service.

Chris is quick to point out that Process Systems wouldn't have made so much progress without the contributions of its staff-both new faces and long-time shop veterans.

Great Lakes Pump's John King Retires
The end of 2021 marked the end of an era with John P. King retiring from our Great Lakes Pump & Supply division after 37 years in the fluid management industry.

John started in the shop of vertical turbine pump manufacturing company Process Systems, Inc (which became a Ruthman Company in 2004). In 2010, John took his pump expertise to sister Ruthman division Great Lakes Pump & Supply. As a sales engineer, John continued to work with Process Systems’ pumps as well as pumps and equipment from other major manufacturers.

John looked at fluid management as both a science and an art. He believed the biggest challenges sometimes came down to people. This approach–being patient and listening first–made an impression on all his customers and colleagues.

We wish John a long and happy retirement!
Gusher Renews ISO Certifcation
Team effort leads to ISO 9001:2015 designation
Our Gusher Pumps division was recently granted ISO 9001:2015 status by auditor EAGLE Registrations, Inc.

This designation affirms Gusher’s commitment to quality management practices as well as customer service and satisfaction within its three Kentucky manufacturing facilities.

According to Amanda Clifton, who led the internal certification effort, the preparation for the audit included reviewing and updating documentation throughout every department, establishment of quantifiable quality objectives, survey and evaluation of vendors to ensure compliance with Gusher’s goals, and edits to the quality manual.

We have a number of positions open in our corporate office and across our nationwide manufacturing divisions.

Check out the open positions below. Feel free to pass along the link to anyone you think would be a good fit to grow with us!
