Thank you for choosing Spiekermann Travel as your trusted partner on this incredible journey. We look for-ward to helping you create new and unforgettable memories in the future.

Our 2025 year has begun on a promising note, marked by a series of successful and memorable tours that have unfolded step by step. We kicked off with the vibrant and diverse cultures of Africa, executing impactful tours across Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and the adventurous landscapes of Gabon, CAR, and Congo. Unfortunately, due to the recent unrest and the takeover by rebels in Eastern DRC, we had to hold off on that destination this time.

Our journey through the Atlantic Coast was equally exciting, with successful tours in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, and Senegal, each offering unique cultural experiences. In addition to these, we organized a classical tour of Ghana, Togo, and Benin, which was met with great enthusiasm, and I had the privilege of accompanying two special trips to Burundi and South Sudan. Beyond Africa, we also ventured outside the continent, leading an unforgettable journey through Bangladesh, guided by Michel Behar, as well as an enriching tour of Saudi Arabia, Yemen and private Egypt.

April has been an action-packed month for us, with a range of Middle Eastern, Asian, and Mediterranean expeditions underway. Our group in Jordan is currently immersed in the country's rich historical tapestry, guided by the expert leadership of Dr. Barbara Porter. At the same time, a small group is exploring the captivating landscapes of Central Asia, while another journey is unfolding in Libya. This tour is unique, as it not only explores the Western region but also ventures to the Eastern frontier, bordering Egypt, all under the guidance of our brilliant Aussie leader and scholar, Iain Shearer. Meanwhile, our Eastern Turkey tour is also underway, taking travelers through the breathtaking and remote cities and towns of this fascinating region. Once again, our fantastic guide Aysel will be showcasing the hidden gems of Turkey to our eager explorers.

On a more historic note, our Syria trip is still on track, led by our own Ghiath Abdallah. This journey is especially poignant, as it coincides with a pivotal moment in the country’s history—following the formation of the new cabinet and hopes for national unity after the ousting of ex-president Assad. Looking ahead, our iconic Islands tour will be departing in May/June, taking travelers to the sun-kissed Mediterranean gems of Malta, Cyprus, and the Greek Islands, including Rhodes, Crete, and Santorini. A journey through rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cultures awaits!

One of the standout summer programs we are offering is a unique expedition to Papua New Guinea (Jul 17 - Jul 28, 2025). This immersive journey takes you deep into the dense forests and ancient cultures of one of the world’s most remote regions. It’s an unparalleled opportunity to experience the vibrant traditions and breathtaking landscapes of Papua New Guinea, a land that remains largely untouched by modern tourism. From the comfort of your well-appointed lodges, you will venture into small villages, where you will have the chance to interact with the locals and gain insight into their way of life. One of the highlights of this trip is the colorful Mt. Hagen Show, a dazzling celebration of culture where tribes from across the country gather to showcase their traditional dances and ceremonial dress. In addition, you’ll attend the festive Tumbuna Show in the Highlands, further immersing yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of this remote land.

Throughout the journey, you will be staying in comfortable accommodations, guided by experienced local experts who will introduce you to the people and customs of this fascinating region. And for an even more thrilling experience, you’ll take scenic chartered flights over the vast, impenetrable rain-forests—an awe-inspiring sight that has kept tribes isolated for centuries. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore a corner of the world few get to experience. We still have a few openings for this year’s tour, so if you're seeking a unique adventure this summer, we invite you to join us on this unforgettable journey.

Our flagship summer tour for 2025 is an extraordinary journey to Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi, scheduled for Aug 16 - Aug 29, 2025. There are still a few spots available for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, where you’ll immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of these three incredible countries, explore their exotic landscapes, and encounter breathtaking wildlife. The journey will culminate in an unforgettable trek to meet the majestic mountain gorillas of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, truly the highlight of the trip! For those concerned about the trek, rest assured: if you’re worried about your ability to hike to see the gorillas, you can hire a team of strong porters to assist you both ways for a fee of approximately $300, making this experience accessible to all.

The adventure begins in Uganda, nestled on the East African Plateau, where you will explore the bustling capital of Kampala and delve into the fascinating history of the Buganda Kingdom. At Kibale National Park, you’ll come face-to-face with chimpanzees in their natural habitat and explore the steamy Sempaya Hot Springs, known as the “male” (Mumbugu) and “female” (Nyasimbi) springs. The highlight here will undoubtedly be the rare, up-close encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas in the dense, mist-covered forest.

Next, we will cross into Rwanda, the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” home to diverse wildlife and a rich tapestry of endemic bird species. On a thrilling trekking expedition, you will have the chance to see the golden monkey, one of the world’s rarest primates, and experience the vibrant culture of Rwanda firsthand at a traditional village. A stop at the Genocide Museum in Kigali will offer a poignant reminder of Rwanda’s resilient history, and no visit would be complete without a drink at the famous Hotel des Mille Collines, also known as “Hotel Rwanda,” which served as a shelter dur-ing the 1994 genocide.

The final leg of this remarkable journey will take us into Burundi, where you will discover a culture deeply rooted in local traditions and influenced by its neighboring countries. You’ll visit the controversial “Source of the Nile” and marvel at the stunning Karera Waterfalls. To conclude this incredible experience, you’ll enjoy a mesmerizing performance by the Royal Drummers of Burundi, whose ancient drumming techniques have been passed down through generations, adding a rhythmic and cultural finale to your unforgettable adventure.

Join us for an unforgettable journey across North Africa, led by our esteemed expert Mohamed Halouani. This immersive tour will take you through the heart of Mauritania, Tunisia, and Algeria—three countries rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Our adventure begins in Mauritania, once the epicenter of the powerful Almoravid movement that helped spread Islam across North Africa. Here, you will discover a land of striking contrasts: ancient ksours (fortified villages), nomadic desert camps, medieval Berber trading posts, and the otherworldly Guelb Errichat—often called the “Eye of Africa.” You'll also visit bustling local markets, lush oases, and see remarkable Neolithic rock art tucked away in remote caves. Next, we venture into Tunisia, a country un-matched in its historical and cultural splendor. Begin in the vibrant capital of Tunis, home to world-class museums, a labyrinthine medina, and lively souks. Explore the legendary ruins of ancient Carthage, once a dominant power in the Roman Empire, and marvel at Dougga—Tunisia’s most impressive and best-preserved archaeological site. Our final destination is Algeria, a land of vast landscapes, rich traditions, and incredible Roman heritage. From the azure shores of the Mediterranean to the verdant mountains and across the golden sands of the Sahara, Algeria offers a breathtaking diversity of scenery. Discover the Roman ruins of Timgad, explore the ancient port of Caesarea, and wander through the palm-fringed oasis of Bou Saada. Visit the historic Kasbah of Al-giers, the extraordinary, fortified city of Ghardaïa with its Mozabite villages, and conclude in Con-stantine, the dramatic “City of Gorges and Bridges,” perched over deep ravines and connected by stunning stone bridges. This exceptional tour is scheduled for Oct 04 - Oct 31, 2025 and promises an enriching experience through some of North Africa’s most captivating and least-explored destinations.

Lose yourself in the chaotic charm of Old Dhaka, where narrow lanes hum with the energy of rickshaws, vibrant markets, and irresistible street food.
