Three Dogs, Three Stories, One Shared Need.

Recent Arrivals, Urgent Medical Needs

At Saving Grace, every new arrival comes with a story. Some stories are heartbreaking. Some are mysterious. All of them deserve a chance at a happy ending.

This week, we're introducing you to three dogs who are currently receiving medical care and recovering in our program. Kristi, Kevin, and Patty each face their own challenges, and thanks to the support of our community, they're getting the care, comfort, and second chance they need to move forward.

🐾 Kristi

Kristi, a 1.5-year-old tri-colored hound, arrived at Saving Grace last Thursday with a severe laceration to her neck that required immediate medical attention from our clinic team. While we may never know exactly what happened to her, our veterinarian suspects the injury could have occurred after she became caught in a fence or piece of machinery. Whatever the cause, it was clear Kristi needed urgent care and a safe place to heal.

Kristi has been incredibly resilient. From the moment she arrived, she has shown a gentle spirit and a trusting nature that have won over everyone caring for her. Her most recent wound-care check went very well and she is now resting comfortably in a foster home. Kristi is receiving the quiet environment, attentive care, and quality recovery time she needs to regain her strength.

While her physical wounds continue to heal, Kristi is also getting the chance to experience something every dog deserves: safety, comfort, and the knowledge that she is no longer facing life's challenges alone.

We expect Kristi will be ready to return for adoption in the coming weeks. Until then, she will continue receiving the care, monitoring, and support she needs to ensure the best possible outcome.

🐾 Kevin

Kevin, a two-month-old terrier mix puppy weighing just 3 pounds, arrived at Saving Grace last week unable to bear weight on one of his tiny back legs. At an age when most puppies are busy exploring the world, playing with littermates, and discovering their confidence, Kevin was facing an uncertain future.

Our clinic team suspects a traumatic injury and has prescribed crate rest in a foster home while he is monitored and assessed for any additional treatment he may need. Thankfully, his foster family reports that Kevin is settling in well, staying bright and happy, and has already started putting some weight on the injured leg, an encouraging sign as he begins his recovery.

In addition to whatever medical care his leg requires, this tiny pup still has a whole puppyhood ahead of him. Before he's ready to find a family of his own, Kevin will need his full series of puppy vaccinations, routine veterinary care, and neuter surgery. These essential medical expenses help ensure that when the time comes for adoption, he can start his new life healthy, safe, and ready for every adventure that lies ahead.

🐾 Patty

Patty's story is a bit of a mystery. When she arrived at Saving Grace, she was missing her rear left foot. While we don't know what happened or how she came to be in that condition, it was clear she needed help. After a veterinary evaluation, Patty underwent amputation surgery to remove the remainder of the damaged leg and give her the best chance at a comfortable, pain-free future. Her estimated cost of care is $2,300.

Patty is a 24 pound, 1.5-year-old female lab mix. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her true personality shines through. Her foster family describes her as sweet, affectionate, and full of wiggly enthusiasm.

Recovering from an amputation takes time, and Patty has adapted well to life on three legs. Dogs are incredibly resilient, and she is already showing she is more interested in enjoying life than dwelling on the challenges she has faced.

Patty is expected to return soon where she'll be available for adoption through our Fun-Sized adoption program. We can't change what happened to Patty before she came to us, but we can ensure the next chapter of her life is filled with comfort, security, and love.

Help Them Heal. Help Them Home.

Days ago, Kevin, Kristi, and Patty were facing uncertainty. Today, they are surrounded by veterinary care, foster families, and people committed to helping them recover. Soon, each of these dogs will begin searching for what every dog deserves: a family to call their own.

Your generosity helps bridge the gap between rescue and adoption by providing the medical treatment, recovery time, and everyday care that make happy endings possible.

If you'd like your gift to support one of these dogs directly, select "Other" when donating and include the dog's name in the memo. And if one of these resilient pups has already stolen your heart, consider submitting an adoption request so you'll be ready when they're available.

Together, we can turn stories of hardship into stories of healing, hope, and home.
