H.A.N.D.S. Family S’mores Night
Swing by Heritage Sunday Oct, 11th between 6:00-7:30pm for a night of socializing with other Heritage families. Whether you’ve been at Heritage for 5 weeks or 5 years, this is a great event to catch up with friends, both old and new. H.A.N.D.S. will have the fire roaring and provide the s'mores ingredients. Bring your own chairs and plan on an enjoyable evening!

Enrollment for 2027-2028
Enrollment for the 2027-2028 school year at Heritage Christian School will begin Monday, November 2, and priority will be given to current families for the first month. This is open to any new students (PreK-8th) desiring to enroll at Heritage. When enrollment begins, you will apply through your FACTS Family Portal. If your child currently attends Heritage, they are automatically enrolled for the next school year.

Picture Days
Student portraits will be taken on Wednesday, October 14 (PK-2nd grades) & Thursday, October 15 (3rd-8th grades). If you wish to place an order for the school portraits you may either return the paper order form (coming home in Friday folders next week) on your students’ picture day or place an order online using the link listed below. While pictures will be available to purchase throughout the school year, after the 48-hour mark prices will increase, you will have to pay shipping, and you will need to contact the school office for your child’s student ID.

PRAYER WALK
Please join us as we walk and pray for Heritage Christian School on Wednesday, October 21. We will meet outside the school at 7:45am to pray for students, families, staff, faculty, board, etc. as we walk around the school. Children are welcome to join, but they will be expected to stay with parents and participate (there will not be childcare provided for this event). If you are unable to be physically present, feel free to join in prayer from wherever you are! Thank you for joining us as we seek the Lord.

Box Tops
H.A.N.D.S. is spreading the word that next week, October 12th -18th, is National Box Tops Week. This is a great opportunity to help H.A.N.D.S. earn funds to support upcoming events like S'mores night this Sunday. All Box Top products will earn double and purchase 4 Box Tops items on one transaction will earn us 20 Box Tops, or $2 dollars. Don't have the app you say, download from your app store, use the referral code ZRME6865, and select Heritage Christian School North Liberty, Iowa from the list. Veterans Day Celebration Photos
If your child(ren) is new to Heritage Christian School and he/she has a relative that is a veteran or currently enlisted in the United States Armed Forces, please send a picture (preferably electronic) to Erica Wallace at wallacee@hcs-nl.com. These pictures will be added to a slide show and to a wall recognizing the families that have sacrificed for the security and safety of our nation. Please send all photos by Friday, October 23. All hard copy photos will be returned. Pictures submitted in previous years do not need to be resubmitted as we have kept electronic copies of them.

Volleyball Volunteers Needed
If you are a volleyball parent, love the game of volleyball, or just want to serve at Heritage, we are looking for volunteers to be line judges, run the scoreboard, and work concessions at our volleyball games. All the jobs are easy to learn and any training needed before the game can be provided. If you would like to volunteer, please use the sign-up genius link below. High school students can also volunteer in any of these roles for silver cord hours.

Basketball Coaches and Assistant Cheer Coach Needed
5th/6th Girls Basketball Coach and Assistant Cheer Coach Needed
We are still seeking coaches for the following positions:
-
5th/6th girls
- Assistant cheer coach (ideally who would like to be the head coach next year)
We are looking for individuals who would like to help us fulfill the following athletic goals:
- Compete in a God-glorifying manner
- Develop Christ-like character in student athletes
- Develop and refine fundamental skills
- Establish positive relationships.
Coaches at Heritage are volunteers and do not need a state certificate or license. We do ask that our coaches agree with our school’s statement of faith, pass our school’s volunteer background check, take a short concussion course, and agree to some coaching guidelines. Organizational and communication skills, along with background or experience in the sport of basketball/cheer help. If we do not find a coach for the 5th/6th girls basketball team, we will unfortunately not be able to field a team. If you are interested or know someone who might be a good fit for this role, please reach out to Sarah Franje (franjes@hcs-nl.com) . Sports Update
Volleyball Recap
On Tuesday, Heritage started off the season playing Valley Lutheran. In both sets of the JV games, the Eagles faced some tough servers and found themselves in hole. They used serving and some disciplined passing to dig out of the hole a bit, but in the end the Eagles fell in two sets, 18-25 and 20-25. In the Varsity game, the Eagles worked hard to play their positional spot, which was new for most players. Strong serving with many ace serves from Sofia Sanchez, Emma Van Otterloo, and Eden York, helped the Eagles pull away and win in two sets, 25-19 and 25-17. Great start to the season Eagles!

Basketball/Cheer
If your child plans to participate in basketball or cheer this winter, please have you and your child read and sign the Athletic Contract by November 2. If this is your child’s first sport at Heritage this school year, please also complete the additional forms below.
All athletic fees will be charged through FACTS ($60 for basketball, $40 for cheerleading). If you want to pay with cash/check, please submit payment before November 1. If you have not done so recently, please make sure your child’s athletic physical is up-to-date (past 12 months), and you have shared with the office.
