New Canadian National Cancer Strategy Announced
On June 4, a modernized Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control  was released by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC). This refreshed Strategy is a 10-year roadmap to improve equity in the cancer system and deliver world-class cancer care to all Canadians, while focusing on a sustainable healthcare system for the future.
More than 7,500 Canadians, including healthcare leaders from across the country, shaped the Strategy aimed at strengthening cancer care for all Canadians, families and caregivers affected by the disease.

We at Myeloma Canada are very encouraged by the refreshed Strategy and are in full support of its priorities and roadmap. We hope that you will share the message so that our voices will be heard.
The Strategy focuses on driving measurable change on the most pressing challenges for the next decade with 5 priorities:

  1. Decrease the risk of people getting cancer
  2. Diagnose cancer faster, accurately and at an earlier stage
  3. Deliver high-quality care in a sustainable, world-class system
  4. Eliminate barriers to people getting the care they need
  5. Deliver information and support for people living with cancer, families and caregivers
In addition, the Strategy includes three priorities identified by First Nations, Inuit and Métis, each with Peoples-specific actions.
