Hello Families,
Happy Black History Month! While our goal is to incorporate conversations around race and the celebration of Black history and contributions to our global community all year, we would like to highlight a new opportunity/resource to learn and celebrate Black History in our weekly newsletters for the month of February. Our first invitation is an incredible webinar hosted by Stem Connector on "Knowing the Past Opens Doors to the Future: How Historical Representation Plays a Critical Role in Advancing Black and African Americans in STEM". Click HERE to register for this amazing webinar!
We also had the pleasure of experiencing the FixED performance and follow-up workshop hosted by national student-led Epic Ensemble during our February PD Day! Our staff left feeling inspired and empowered by the day.
We also want to thank ALL families for prioritizing the safety of our community as we continue conversations around what inclusion looks like at DV Connect, including gender and gender identity. More information and opportunities to continue the conversation will be shared soon. In the meantime, please continue to direct any inquiries to Kaitlin.
Finally, in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day on 2/17 and as a supplemental way to spread the love on Valentine's Day, we will be offering opportunities to participate in a Random Act of Kindness before school this week! We will be exploring kindness activities in class, and invite you to explore additional ways to promote kindness at home!
Finally, we look forward to seeing you at the Speaker's Jam on Wednesday afternoon! See the below blurb for resources on reading/writing poetry to make participation a breeze! Thank you to Jahmal and our Core 1 families for your hard work in bringing this special event to life!
Enjoy Your Week,
Kaitlin (she/her) and Sage (he/him)
