Design Guideline Updates Now in Effect

The Reston Association Board approved updates and additions to the Design Guidelines on August 27. A total of 45 guidelines across all property types were created or revised, including a new guideline addressing features such as string lighting. Many of the approved changes are intended to streamline the Design Review Board (DRB) process by reducing review requirements for certain projects and expanding the number of improvements that either do not require an application or can be approved administratively by staff. These updates are designed to help members complete projects more efficiently while continuing to uphold the aesthetic standards and character of the community.

Members are encouraged to review the revised guidelines before beginning their next project to take advantage of the updated standards and a more streamlined review process.
