Fact Sheet: G.O. Bond Bayshore Traffic Calming

Notice Date: Friday, August 14, 2026

Project Overview

The City of Miami Beach will soon begin installing traffic calming improvements throughout the Bayshore neighborhood. As part of this initiative, a combination of speed tables and cushions, traffic circles and intersection improvements will be placed throughout the Central Bayshore South neighborhood at the following locations:

  • Prairie Avenue between Dade Boulevard and West 37 Street
  • N Meridian Avenue between Dade Boulevard and West 28 Street
  • West 28 Street between Meridian Avenue and Sheridan Avenue
  • Chase Avenue between Alton Road and West 40 Street
  • Royal Palm Avenue between West 28 Street and West 42 Street
  • Sheridan Avenue between West 28 Street and West 40 Street

These upgrades are intended to enhance safety by reducing vehicular speeding and discouraging cut‑through traffic through the neighborhood.

What’s Happening

The City Commission has awarded the construction contract to Mastec North America and the City is currently finalizing contractor agreements. This project will be implemented in a structured, phased approach to minimize disruptions within the neighborhood.

Upon execution of the contractor agreements, a comprehensive construction sequencing plan will be issued. This plan will detail the specific locations designated for the new traffic‑calming installations and outline the order in which each work activity will occur, ensuring full alignment with the finalized construction schedule.

Timeline

This project is anticipated to take approximately 7 months to complete, with construction expected to begin in September 2026. Additional details and updates will be provided through upcoming project communications.

What to Expect

  • Construction equipment and workers will be present in the area.
