The historic Stage Fort Park along Gloucester Harbor will blossom into color and flavor for the 44th Annual Gloucester Waterfront Festival. This event features over 130 booths of American-made arts, crafts, foods, and live music. Admission is free, handicap accessible, held rain or shine, and friendly pets are welcome on leash. Rockport Illuminations

Come to Rockport Massachusetts for a full day of family fun, capped off by a fireworks display that will light up the sky over Rockport's Sandy Bay. The fireworks show begins at 9 pm, and will be lit off from Granite Pier. The show will last for approximately 20 to 25 minutes.

Eliot scholar Sara Fitzgerald discusses the relationship between T.S. Eliot and Emily Hale. The poet’s shift to playwriting was inspired—and guided—by Emily Hale, a talented amateur actress and speech and drama teacher from Boston who was Eliot’s longtime secret love. Those details emerge from the more than 1,100 letters Eliot wrote Hale over their lifetimes, a correspondence that was finally opened in 2020. Sponsored by the Gloucester Writers Center.

Fishermen's Memorial Service

Saturday, August 16 | 5 PM


Please join the Fishermen’s Memorial Service Committee in remembering those who lost their lives fishing from America’s oldest seaport. The Service starts with a procession from the American Legion, down Middle Street, and onto Stacy Boulevard. Everyone is invited to join the procession. A line of drummers leads it, and many of those walking carry flowers to toss into the sea at the end of the ceremony to remember loved ones or hold boat oars carrying the names of Gloucester fishing boats, past and present.
