The Delaware Division of the Arts is partnering with the United Way of Delaware and Spur Impact Association to promote philanthropy benefiting Delaware’s arts community. As part of the Do More 24 Delaware Day campaign, arts organizations receiving FY2021 general operating support from the Delaware Division of the Arts that participate in this event are eligible to receive additional funds from a Division-funded “stretch pool” totaling $425,000.
Participating organizations, divided into large and small divisions, will receive an FY2021 grant bonus, proportionate to the success of their fundraising within their division. Those organizations with the greatest number of donors in each division will also receive an additional bonus. Top awards for number of donors will be $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second place, and $2,500 for third place in each division.
This is a great opportunity for patrons of the arts to support the arts in Delaware and multiply the impact of your donations. Simply visit the Do More 24 Delaware website, search for your organization(s), and make your contribution during the 24-hour period between March 4 (6 p.m.) and March 5 (6 p.m.). We'll take care of the rest.

This Arts E-News is quite lengthy, so I'll keep my message short, especially since I have snow shoveling to do as I write this!
In a stand-up comedy routine, Jim Gaffigen quips, "Without Valentine's Day, February would be...well, January!" With that in mind, take time this month to reach out to someone you haven't seen in a while. Make a connection that cuts through the isolation we've all been experiencing in recent months. Share the arts with someone you love!
Visit DelawareScene.com and check out how you can participate in the arts, even from the comfort of your own home!

Anamnesis
by Bronwen Hazlett
|
Image: Gibraltar Mansion, 2020, in-camera film photomontage, 20.7 x 11 inches
|
|
Anamnesis, an exhibition of photography by Bronwen Hazlett, is on view in the Mezzanine Gallery through February 26, 2021. Hazlett, a fine art photographer based in Clayton, explores past, present, and potential memories in this series of photo-montage landscapes.
Hazlett creates this work using film in a 120mm Diana F+ camera, a plastic bodied toy camera dating to the 1960s. She likes these cameras because she can advance the film as she wishes and for their artistic effects. Hazlett processes the film in her darkroom and then scans the images and prints them on glossy paper.
The photographs are finished with haikus hand-written on the bottom of her images. The haiku is a Japanese poem of 17 syllables, in 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5, traditionally evoking images of the natural world. The artist uses the haikus to document her memories associated with an image.
