NATIONAL AIRBORNE DAY
National Airborne Day on August 16 honors the military's airborne divisions of the Armed Forces.
August 16, 1940, marks the date of the first official Army parachute jump at Ft. Benning, Georgia. The successful jump validated the innovative concept of inserting U.S. ground combat forces behind a battle line by parachute. These sky soldiers represent some of the most prestigious and expertly trained forces in the United States Army.
In the U.S. Army currently, two airborne divisions operate. The 82nd Airborne Division out of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina began as an infantry division. During World War I, the 82nd Division activated on 25 August 1917 at Camp Gordon. In 1918, they earned the nickname All American for the composition of their division. Since the soldiers came not only from all across the country, but several were immigrants, too. The 82nd Division represented all of America as few other divisions did at the time.
The second and still active airborne division had a short-lived beginning. During World War I, the 101st Airborne Division organized for a short while on November 2, 1918. However, the war ended shortly after. During World War II, the Screaming Eagles re-activated on August 16, 1942, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. They currently make their home at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.
Both units have served around the world in combat, peacekeeping, and humanitarian missions.

SAFETY TIPS
These hot temperatures can become life-threatening if the proper precautions are not taken. Residents can visit weatherwise.nola.gov to find localized updates on weather conditions when considering outdoor activities.
Residents are advised to take the following precautions to prevent health emergencies due to overexposure to extreme heat:
- Stay indoors in air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day
- If you must perform outdoor activities, do so early in the morning or late in the evening
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
- Avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun
- Be sure to drink plenty of water, and do not wait until you’re thirsty
- The very young, the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease, are at a greater risk for heat-related health issues and should take extra precautions to stay cool and hydrated
- Check on neighbors, children, the elderly and chronically ill to make sure they are okay, especially every hour if power outages occur.
Children and pets should never be left unattended in a vehicle. Even in 70-degree weather, the interior temperature of a vehicle can increase rapidly to over 100 degrees in just 20 minutes. Cracking a window does not help. Leaving a child or pet unattended in a vehicle often leads to a life-threatening emergency. Anyone who sees a child or animal unattended in a vehicle is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
For more information about heat-related illnesses, tips on staying cool and to receive up-to-date alerts, please visit ready.nola.gov.

NOPD Chief: 'We're going to be the winning team' and hire hundreds more cops
By Chris Miller
New Orleans Police Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick has plans to grow the NOPD. The department's ranks have plummeted since the pandemic of 2020.
"We're right around 900," the chief said. She told WWL-TV she wants to hire 300 more than that.
"The goal would be to get back to the 1,200 mark," Kirkpatrick said. "That's the goal."
But she says that does not mean they will hire anybody to wear a badge.
"I will not fill a seat for someone who shouldn't have a gun and someone who shouldn't be making decisions of authority and power over others," she said.
Kirkpatrick said that the reductions in crime in New Orleans -- more than double the rate at which crime is dropping nationally -- shows NOPD is a winning team, and the best of the best are attracted to winners.
"That's who we are," she said. "We're going to be the winning team and are the winning team."

NOPD Announces Significant Reduction in Crime Throughout City in 2024
NEW ORLEANS – Today (August 16, 2024), NOPD Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick announced that the NOPD has seen a significant reduction in criminal incidents in the City of New Orleans to date in 2024.
“I am pleased to announce that the New Orleans Police Department has achieved a significant reduction in crime,” Kirkpatrick said during a press event held at the NOPD’s Special Operations Division. “This marks a pivotal moment in our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”
Kirkpatrick was joined at the event by New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell; New Orleans CAO Gilbert Montano; Louisiana State Police Col. Robert Hodges; New Orleans Public Safety Director John Thomas; New Orleans Criminal Justice Commissioner Tenisha Stevens; members of the New Orleans City Council, Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams; representatives from federal, local and state law enforcement partner agencies; and local community partners and leaders.
The following information, complied by the NOPD Analytics Division, shows a marked decrease in multiple crime categories to date in 2024. These include:
- A 24-percent decrease in persons crime overall
- A 43-percent decrease in violent crime (murder, nonfatal shootings, and armed robberies)
- A 37-percent decrease in murders, seeing 51 incidents to date as of today.
- A 71-percent decease in the number of juvenile victims in homicide incidents.
- NOPD Homicide Section currently at a year-to-date solve rate of just over 65 percent.
- A 43-percent decrease in nonfatal shootings, with 107 fewer shooting incidents than at this point in 2023.
- A 39-percent decrease in the number of nonfatal shooting victims, showing 124 fewer victims year to date.
- A 46-percent decrease in armed robbery incidents
- A 49-percent decrease in carjacking incidents
- An overall decrease of 25 percent in property crime incidents, which includes
- A 46-percent decrease in armed robbery incidents
- A 49-percent decrease in carjacking incidents
- A 44-percent decrease in vehicle burglary incidents, which also includes a 44-percent decrease in the number of firearms stolen in vehicle burglary incidents
- While many property crime categories have seen decreases, the NOPD has seen an 11-percent increase in theft incidents, as well as a 21-percent increase in shoplifting incidents.
Additionally, NOPD median emergency response times currently stand at 9 minutes and 16 seconds, while median nonemergency response times are currently at 11 minutes, 32 seconds. The combined median response time for all calls for service for July 2024 – 13.1 minutes – was the lowest monthly median response time since March 2021.
These reductions were noted recently in a survey released by the Major Cities Chiefs Association, listing New Orleans as one of the top 70 cities in the country experiencing a marked decrease in violent crime. The U.S. Attorney General’s Office has also made note of this decrease.
Today’s event was not a celebration of statistics, Kirkpatrick said, but a moment for the NOPD to acknowledge the reality behind the figures.
“Each statistic represents a grieving family, a life tragically lost and a community affected,” she said, “We must honor that loss as we discuss these numbers today.”
Over the past year, Kirkpatrick noted, the NOPD has implemented several key strategies to focus on violent crime. These strategies have served to aid in the marked reductions.
“We’ve been able to make significant progress by concentrating our efforts on the areas and individuals that pose the greatest threat to our community,” she said, “These intentional strategies include enhanced data analysis, community engagement, and partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies. We've also increased our focus on proactive policing and intervention programs. We’re employing innovative policing methods to keep both our citizens and visitors safe. This includes advanced technology, community policing initiatives, and specialized training for our officers.”
Kirkpatrick thanked the members of the NOPD for their unwavering dedication and effort to serve and protect the citizens of and visitors to New Orleans. She discussed multiple points of interest regarding officers’ efforts that have cultivated positive results. These include:
- Eighth District investigators having solved every case assigned to them over the past four months, as well as a 90-percent apprehension rate for crimes including shootings, armed robberies and carjackings.
- Fourth District officers and detectives identifying a suspect involved in multiple shooting incidents. Since the suspect’s arrest, the district has seen a 50-percent reduction in homicides.
- Second District officers recently arresting a juvenile linked to more than 40 vehicle thefts and burglaries, as well as an aggravated assault incident.
- The Seventh District leading all NOPD districts with a 40-percent reduction in violent crime. The district has arrested more than 277 felons, made 75 gun crime arrests and has confiscated more than 104 weapons.
- NOPD Homicide Detective James Fyfe having solved 17 consecutive murder cases. This incredible work involved more than 100 search warrants, conducting multiple suspect and witness interviews, and working in cooperation with agencies from Tennessee to Texas.
“This work goes above and beyond, and these dedicated men and women deliver it every day,” Kirkpatrick said. “Our officers have made a tremendous impact on public safety.”
The superintendent also offered thanks to Mayor LaToya Cantrell and her administration, the New Orleans City Council and the city’s public safety leaders for their continued support. She also recognized local, state, federal and community partners for their teamwork and assistance, and community leaders for standing with the NOPD in support of public safety.
“These partnerships with local government, law enforcement and community agencies are all helping to make New Orleans a safer, stronger, and more vibrant city,” Kirkpatrick said.

Broadbent Selections is not a name you hear as often as say Kermit Lynch, or Rosenthal Wine Merchants or Louis/Dressner, but that makes them no less important in the world of wine. Representing only 50 producers at any given time, its reputation for curating a high-quality and unique portfolio has made Broadbent a prominent player, especially in niche and specialty wines. The company's focus on authenticity, tradition, and sustainability has earned it respect and recognition among wine enthusiasts and professionals.
The company was founded in 1996 by Bartholomew Broadbent, son of wine critic, author, auctioneer and Master of Wine, Michael Broadbent. Growing up in a wine-focused family, Bartholomew developed a deep appreciation and knowledge of wine from an early age. His work has had a considerable impact on the wine industry, particularly in the U.S., where he has helped elevate the profile of many wines and wine regions that were previously underrepresented.
This carefully curated portfolio of high-quality and unique wines focuses on Europe and South Africa but is particularly noted for its selections from Portugal, especially Madieras and Ports. Join Wesley Kohler-Bergere as we explore 5 high-quality wines that represent the breadth of this thoughtful portfolio.

conscientious pronunciation: /ˌkänCHēˈen(t)SHəs/
Definition: wishing to do what is right, especially to do one's work or duty well and thoroughly
Origin: late 16th century: from Latin conscientiosus, from conscientia ‘knowledge within oneself’
Example: She was always a conscientious student, studying hard and turning in her assignments on time.
Thorough and careful are two words that accurately describe the meaning of conscientious. To be conscientious is to be diligent and meticulous in one's work or duties, with a strong sense of responsibility to do things correctly and to the best of one's abilities. A conscientious person pays attention to the details, takes the time to do things right, and is committed to getting the job done well. This trait is highly valued in many professions, where accuracy and precision are essential for success. A conscientious approach can lead to greater productivity, higher quality work, and greater satisfaction in one's achievements.

An eclectic group of adults… playing six mid-pubescents, vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box. [Rated: PG-13]

NATIONAL RUM DAY
National Rum Day on August 16 as blended beverages and cocktails create a delicious celebration. Rum is a distilled clear alcoholic beverage which is a byproduct of sugar production. It can also be made directly from sugar cane juice. After the fermentation and distillation process, most rum ages in wooden oak barrels.
RUM FACT: In 1764, the British Crown placed a tax on sugar, molasses and rum on the American colonies. This tax was called The Sugar Act of 1764. It was instrumental in the unrest that finally became the American Revolution.
Rum is the third most popular spirit in the United States. Only vodka and all the whiskeys combined beat it for first and second-rankings. The spirit finds its way into citrusy mixed drinks, and cool blended summer cocktails. So much so, that rum stirs up images of sandy beaches and brightly colored umbrellas in fruity drinks.
However, rum also conjures up sailors and pirates. The reason for that is how rum came to be. In the West Indies during the 1600s, large plantations grew sugar cane. When they extracted the sugar, they created a by-product called molasses. For years, the molasses was a waste product until it was discovered it could be distilled - into rum. Then, rum became not only a commodity for trade but also a ration on the ships delivering the product. Even in the modern Royal Navy, British sailors received an allotment of rum until 1970.

10 Kitchen Jargon Terms That Distinguish Chefs From Beginners
1Floor
Credit: Jason Leung
In a restaurant environment, the dining room is referred to as the floor. When anyone from the kitchen walks out onto the floor, their uniforms are supposed to be clean and they should act appropriately in the sight of guests.
Managers typically do rounds and walk the floor several times during a shift to check on customers.
2Waxing a Table
Credit: Des Récits
The act of waxing a table means that a dining space is being prepared for a special guest. This VIP service is usually reserved for important guests like the restaurant owner's family, a critic, or regular customers known as big tippers.
3Two-Top, or Three-Top
Credit: Nick Hillier
As it should be, restaurant dining room tables are identified by how many guests they can accommodate. A table that seats two is called a two-top. A table that seats three is called a three-top. Similarly, for example, there are four-top, or six-top, as well. This system of categorizing tables by their capacity helps streamline operations in busy dining environments and ensures a smooth flow of service.
4Behind
Credit: Stella He
Kitchens can be a very busy place, especially during rush hours. Therefore, to avoid collisions with other staff members scurrying around, it's considered polite to clearly say, "Behind," as you pass behind another person.
This is particularly important if you are carrying a full tray of food, a hot pan, or a rack of glassware. Variations of this expression like "Sharp behind," or "Hot behind," to indicate someone is passing by carrying an object that could harm another staff member, are also used.
5A La Minute
Credit: Dan Rooney
A fancy way of saying that something is done in a hurry, the kitchen phrase a la minute is a French term that translates to at the minute or on the minute. It describes a cooking method that relies on freshly prepared ingredients, but it's also used to signify a dish or condiment must be made to order.
6Dead Plate
Credit: Jesson Mata
The expression dead plate is used to describe a dish of food that is unservable, either because a customer sent it back or because it was prepared incorrectly. It might be added that, while dead plates are usually considered fair game for servers or cooks to eat, this depends on each restaurant's policy.
7Flash
Credit: Ines Azevedo
If a dish needs to be reheated quickly, the cooks will flash it with high heat on the charbroiler, or the oven. This usually comes as a request from a server when a dish is undercooked, the customer has asked for it, or it has been sitting in the window too long.
8Kill It
Credit: Louis Hansel
When you go to a restaurant and ask for a certain food -usually meat- to be very well done, the servers will tell the cooks to kill it. Killing a steak or a chicken breast means to overcook it. What tastes like charcoal to somebody, will be perfectly right for somebody else, right?
9Dying on the Pass
Credit: Fábio Alves
The pass is the window where cooks leave the dishes ready for the servers to take to the diners. A dish dying on the pass means that it has been sitting for too long in the window and is at the risk of becoming unservable because it's drying up, getting too cold, or due to other issues.
10The Rail
Credit: Daniel Bradley
The cooks in a restaurant use a rail or board to hold all of their incoming tickets. It's a strip of metal above the food window that holds tickets in place so anyone on the line can read the orders. Clearing the rail means that all the tickets have been completed. Efficiency and communication are key to a successful service.

⚜️Ain't There No More New Orleans
Derby Gisclair
Exposition Building
Shortly after its organization in October 1871, the members of the South West Exposition Association began work on a new building on St. Charles Avenue between Julia and Girod Streets that would run all the way through to Carondelet Street. The popular local architect Albert Dietiel was engaged, and the building was dedicated on May 1, 1872. It is shown here in a photograph from 1910.
The 85-foot front facing on St. Charles Avenue opened onto a first floor hall 341-feet by 85-feet devoted to the exhibition and display of heavy machinery and agricultural implements. The second story was dedicated to Fine Arts with additional exhibition space and a Grand Concert Hall 170-feet by 81-feet with a 40-foot ceiling as well as another Concert Hall 60-feet by 60-feet. All three halls were adorned with frescos by Mr. F. Hang. The building no longer stands, replaced by the former L.E. Rabouin Memorial School, now the International High School.

LSU Athletics is proud to announce its year-long celebration of 100 Years in Tiger Stadium, highlighted by stadium upgrades, events, storytelling initiatives, and a season-long celebration throughout the 2024 campaign.
Tiger Stadium, one of America’s most iconic sporting venues, first opened its gates on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1924. Since then, the Tigers have won 450 contests in Death Valley, which has been home to two Heisman Trophy winners, four national championship teams, and 12 SEC title-winning squads.
Included in the celebration are several upgrades to Tiger Stadium, including a new videoboard and lighting system, as well as other upgrades designed to enhance the game day experience. Other events and celebrations will be announced throughout the year.
The 2024 home schedule features several marquee matchups, including home contests against Oklahoma, UCLA, and Alabama. Information on the full 2024 schedule and season tickets will be announced in the coming weeks.
One of the most legendary stadiums in all of college football, Tiger Stadium has been called “the best place in the world to watch a sporting event” by ESPN and “the pound-for-pound king of noise in college football.”
Entering its centennial season in 2024, Tiger Stadium has been a cornerstone of LSU Athletics and the Louisiana community for almost a century, hosting numerous NFL superstars, Heisman Trophy winners, and Hall of Famers since its opening in 1924. It serves as a sporting, cultural, and commercial hub for LSU Athletics, which contributes an estimated $500 million of economic activity for the state of Louisiana annually.

Buy Tickets
A hilarious musical beauty pageant, played out in real time with judges selected from the audience and a different winner each night. Did we mention the contestants are played by men?
August 9 - 18, 2024
Directed by Gary Rucker
Lagniappe, Run time: ~1.5 hrs, Rated: PG-13
The show takes its shots not by mocking the proceedings from the outside, but by being an authentic pageant itself. The six female contestants compete for the title of Miss Glamouresse (named for a fictional cosmetics company). Miss Deep South, Miss West Coast, Miss Great Plains, Miss Bible Belt, Miss Industrial Northeast and Miss Texas compete in evening gown, talent, swimwear and spokesmodeling events, and the finalists answer actual calls from the Glamouresse Beauty Crisis Hotline. A campy and uproarious take on a uniquely American concept, Pageant is 90 minutes of non-stop fun.

When in Irvine, the Saints will hold two days joint practices with the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16 in leadup to their Aug. 18 preseason showdown at San Francisco.

Comedy House New Orleans
The most unique comedy show in New Orleans is The Open Mic From Hell, hosted by Chris Trew (as seen on MTV, Comedy Central, America's Got Talent)
CHNO ( Comedy house New Orleans)
609-610 Fulton St
New Orleans, LA 70130
Mon, August 19
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
(Entry at 7:30 pm)
The Open Mic From Hell is the most unique night of comedy in New Orleans.
Everything about the show is chaotic and unpredictable in the most beautifully hilarious way.
The list of performers? A total mystery.
The jokes they’ll tell? Nobody knows, not even them.
How does it work? Comedians sign-up on the list an hour before showtime. At least 13 names get pulled out of the bucket.
When a name gets pulled they come on stage and make a choice - do they do an entirely new set based on words from the audience, or a special challenge set.
Past challenges have had comics doing their set outside on the street, with noise canceling headphones on, and with a designated heckler in the crowd. We are always adding new, improved, and ridiculous challenges to the show.

2024 Full Moon schedule
(all times Eastern)
- Aug. 19 — 2:26 p.m. — Sturgeon Moon
- Sept. 17 — 10:34 p.m. — Corn Moon
- Oct. 17 — 7:26 a.m. — Hunter’s Moon
- Nov. 15 — 4:28 p.m. — Beaver Moon
- Dec. 15 — 4:02 a.m. Cold Moon
Sturgeon Moon (August): Named after the abundant sturgeon fish.
Corn Moon (September): Signifying the corn harvesting period.
Hunter’s Moon (October): Commemorating the hunting season preceding winter.
Beaver Moon (November): Reflects the time when beavers are busy building their winter dams.
Cold Moon (December): Evocative of winter’s chill.
In addition, there are a few additional names for Full Moons that commonly make their way into public conversations and news.
Super Moon: This term is reserved for a Full Moon that aligns with the lunar perigee, which is the Moon’s nearest point to Earth in its orbit. This proximity renders the Full Moon unusually large and luminous. For a Full Moon to earn the Super Moon tag, it should be within approximately 90 percent of its closest distance to Earth.
Blue Moon: A Blue Moon is the second Full Moon in a month that experiences two Full Moons. This phenomenon graces our skies roughly every 2.7 years. Though the term suggests a color, Blue Moons aren’t truly blue. Very occasionally, atmospheric conditions such as recent volcanic eruptions might lend the Moon a slightly blueish tint, but this hue isn’t tied to the term.
Harvest Moon: Occurring closest to the autumnal equinox, typically in September, the Harvest Moon is often renowned for a distinct orange tint it might display. This Full Moon rises close to sunset and sets near sunrise, providing extended hours of bright moonlight. Historically, this was invaluable to farmers gathering their produce.

New Orleans: The New Orleans Jazz Museum is more than a building; it is a living embodiment of New Orleans Jazz culture and music in New Orleans. This is due to the vision of one person: Greg Lambousy, Executive Director of the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
Through Greg Lambousy and his staff’s efforts, the New Orleans Jazz Museum has become the epicenter of the New Orleans Jazz scene. From festivals like the Danny Barker Banjo and Guitar Festival, Satchmo Summerfest, Jazz on the Balcony, Weekly free Jazz performances, and the most significant exhibits relative to New Orleans and early Jazz history presented in the correct cultural context, the City of New Orleans.
To paraphrase the great Professor Longhair, “When you come to New Orleans, be sure to go see the New Orleans Jazz Museum.”.
Presentation, 7:30 PM, August 23 at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 N. Rampart St, NOLA. Free Admission RSVP preferred to: festguide@gmail
Greg Lambousy is the Executive Director of the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Before accepting this position, Lambousy was Director of Curatorial Services for the National World War II Museum. He began his career at the New Orleans Museum of Art and later moved to the Louisiana State Museum (LSM). During his twenty-year tenure at the LSM, Lambousy managed the institution’s collections of more than 500,000 artifacts and other historical items, directed improvements to collections storage at the New Orleans Mint, developed conservation and digitization projects across collections and within the Louisiana Historical Center archives, conducted oral histories and guided the selection and accession of materials related to the State’s history. Since 2016, as Executive Director of the New Orleans Jazz Museum, Lambousy has led the expansion of the Museum in programming, education, exhibitions, international relations, and the development of the Gallatin Street Records label. Visitation has increased fourfold since 2016, and revenues from grants, sponsorships, and events have funded operations, while capital programs have advanced the development of the Museum’s Performance Center and Herb Alpert Education Wing, among other aspects of the Museum’s campus

University of Holy Cross to hold Constitutional Carry & Self Defense Class August 29
Public confusion still swirls around Louisiana’s new firearm carry laws
New Orleans – The University of Holy Cross, in conjunction with Pierre Basic Guns, is hosting two gun safety and self-defense workshops on its Algiers campus on Thursday, August 29, 2024, to help Louisiana residents and the greater UHC community better understand the nuances of the new constitutional carry laws in the State of Louisiana and how the new laws impact their rights and responsibilities. Sponsored by the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), these workshops are designed to educate the public on the legal aspects of self-defense and carrying firearms.
The workshops will be held on August 29, 2024, with two available sessions: 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Both sessions will be conducted at the University of Holy Cross Moreau Center, located at 4123 Woodland Drive in New Orleans.
Each session will last approximately two hours and is open to anyone 18 years and older who wishes to deepen their understanding of this significant legal change regarding the legalities of carrying a firearm in public.
“The need for clear and accurate information is greater than ever,” says University of Holy Cross Police Chief and Director of Public Safety Marshall E. Pierre, Sr. “We are excited to host these informational workshops so our community can feel more educated and empowered about self-defense, especially around the subject of carrying firearms.”
Participants will gain valuable insights into their rights and the best practices for responsible gun ownership and self-defense. These sessions aim to empower attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate the legal landscape confidently and responsibly.
The workshops will cover critical topics such as:
- The implications of being armed in public
- Staying safe by avoiding danger
- Pre-threat indicators
- De-escalation
- Using force
- Seeking further training
- Differences between carrying with a permit vs. without a permit in Louisiana
"I have conducted several of these events, and I've found that many participants are often unaware of the specifics of the law, including what constitutes a justified act of self-defense," says Pierre Basic, founder of Pierre Basic Guns. "One of the most surprising aspects for attendees is learning about the restriction on carrying within 1,000 feet of a school zone without a permit."
To register for a session or to learn more about the workshop series, please contact Pierre Basic Guns at (555) 123-4567 or visit their website at www.pierrebasicguns.com.

It’s Fettuccine Frenzy at Middendorf’s Manchac & Middendorf’s Slidell! Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in September, handmade paper-thin fettuccine is on the menu.
This mouth-watering dish is served with your choice of classic Alfredo or Marinara Sauce and topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese with optional add-ons of shrimp, crabmeat and chicken.
- Fettuccine with Alfredo Sauce topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
- Fettuccine with Marinara Sauce topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
- Optional add-ons:
- Shrimp
- Crabmeat
- Chicken
- Side of Fettuccine topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
Fun Facts:
- Our handmade, paper-thin fettuccine was a guest favorite at Bella Luna in the French Quarter. Bella Luna was a fine dining restaurant owned and operated by Horst and Karen Pfeifer. It closed due to Hurricane Katrina and never reopened. The memory of Bella Luna lives on through Fettuccine Frenzy at Middendorf’s. Same Pasta. Same Taste. None of the Fancy.
- Middendorf’s Owner and European Master Chef Horst Pfeifer makes the fettuccine from scratch which consists solely of Semolina flour and eggs. It’s a very time consuming process to make the fettuccine so paper-thin, but it’s definitely worth it.
- Fettuccine is available all day (lunch and dinner).
- Our full menu is also available.
- Uncooked fettuccine is also available for purchase to make a quick meal at home.
We hope you can join us for Fettuccine Frenzy — Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in September!
