Senior Staff Attorney / Staff Attorney

In anticipation of an aggressive litigation response to the incoming Trump administration, the NYCLU seeks a senior staff attorney (6 or more years of legal experience) or a staff attorney (up to 5 years of legal experience) to conduct litigation and related advocacy in the NYCLU’s legal department. The senior staff attorney or staff attorney will work on the full range of NYCLU work, including immigration and immigrants’ rights, challenging institutional and systemic racism that undermines civil rights and civil liberties, reproductive justice, criminal legal system, the rights of LGBTQ communities and gender equity, government transparency, free expression, equal protection, police misconduct, student rights, and surveillance and privacy.

Salary: Subject to the NYCLU’s attorney salary scale, which is based on years of legal experience (current starting salary for a lawyer with 2 years of experience is $90,000; for 6 years, $109,000)

CRE Commercial Restructuring

The CRE/Commercial Restructuring Counsel Senior is a member of the Legal Department and will be primarily responsible for providing legal support to the Special Assets Group of Flagstar Bank, N.A.(the “Bank”), regarding restructuring and workout of commercial real estate loans. The attorney may also work with commercial and industrial (C&I) loan originations, modifications and workouts. Partner closely with internal business units and work with other members of the Legal Department. As the senior restructuring attorney, will be the primary resource for the business units regarding review and management of legal matters relating to restructuring and workout of commercial real estate (“CRE”) and commercial lending transactions. This attorney will also function as a liaison between business unit management, legal management and outside counsel regarding documentation and legal issues.

• Minimum experience required: Eight to ten years at a reputable law firm in the commercial lending, CRE, restructuring and bankruptcy space or relevant experience in-house at a bank or other financial institution.

Overview

The Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is pleased to announce that it is currently seeking applicants for a visiting or full-time appointment to its Legal Process (Legal Research and Writing) faculty starting in August 2025. Legal Process is a six-credit first-year course. Students receive three credits in the fall semester and three credits in the spring semester. In addition to the standard focus on predictive writing in the fall and persuasive writing in the spring, students are introduced to client interviewing. They are also introduced to client counseling and/or negotiation.

Requirements: J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school

Salary Range:

$72,000.00/Yr - $90,000.00/Yr.
