ONE WILPF Call

Planning for Activism in 2020
Thursday, January 9th ONE WILPF Call

CITIZENS UNITED : Marking the 10th Anniversary of Citizens United our featured guest will be Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap of WILPF US partner MOVE TO AMEND. We'll learn about actions our members can join or initiate in their communities to mark this dubious milestone.

And we'll do SOLIDARITY PLANNING for 2020, looking at Program Committee's suggestions and ideas that our members suggest.

SUFFRAGE: Although white women won the vote state after state between 1919 and 1920, women of color were marginalized and in some southern states black women did not win the vote until the 1960s. Our messaging must reflect that, and tie suffrage to modern women's rights issues and the need to get out the vote in 2020.

HIROSHIMA: Raising awareness of this anniversary ties to WILPF's long term efforts to abolish nuclear weapons, support the UN Treaty to ban the bomb and support Prop1 for a transition from a war economy to a green jobs/peace economy.

We'll need to decide early on dates and actions, so we can have resources and logistics in place. Join the call to have a voice in the decisions being made!
