TAKE ACTION: Congress Could Disrupt Homeless Response

Right now, the administration may be considering changes that could seriously disrupt homelessness services in communities across the country.

Congress will be making these decisions before July 4 – so it’s important to take action now.

ACT NOW

Congress, in bipartisan fashion, encouraged HUD to conduct just one competition for homeless funding grants for 2024 and 2025 (the Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity, or CoC NOFO), instead of a competition in both years. This gave communities more time to focus on helping people instead of paperwork.

But now, the government body in charge, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), might bring back the annual funding scramble. This would create delays and confusion for local programs.

We're asking for your help to tell your Member of Congress: don’t let HUD go backwards.

Here’s what you can do right now: Email your lawmakers and tell them to stop HUD from launching a new round of the CoC NOFO this year. You can use this tool to tell them how this change would delay services and put vulnerable people at risk.

It only takes a minute, but it can protect years of hard work to fight homelessness.

Thank you for taking action.
