Hopefully you’ve already saved the date of November 16 which will be a memorable and celebratory evening in the ongoing life of our church. The planning team has named our event the ALUCC “Legacy Gala,” which is perfect, given the reason and purpose for this special time and those who are able to attend.

Below are some initial communications that are intended to answer common questions we’ve been getting. More information will be forthcoming, but for now, we’re excited to announce that registration is officially open for you to purchase your tickets and help in other ways as well. 

Even with 400 tickets available, we fully expect this event to sell out, so if you are interested in attending, I encourage you to register as soon as possible. 

What is a Legacy Gala?

We are gathering members, friends, and partners of our church to celebrate our storied history, impact, growth and future – during this important transition year for our church. We will use this special reception and dinner together to celebrate the remarkable career of our beloved pastor, the Rev. Dr. Kelly Brill. We will build on our friendships, make new ones, reminisce, laugh, and maybe shed a tear or two. This is about our past, and it’s also about our future. We’ll celebrate both.

Who Should Come?

Simply put, anyone (adults-only please) who has ever worshiped, served through, contributed to, or benefitted from our church. We will be reaching out to those currently active as well as former members who’ve relocated, families of Jack and Jill alumni, community members and others who have been impacted positively by our church, Pastor Kelly, our staff or our congregation’s mission work.

Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024

Time: 5:30 Reception / 6:30 Dinner / Followed Legacy Program

Cost: $60 per person; Appetizers, Dinner, Dessert, Drinks (beer, wine, and non-alcohol) included

Location: Tom’s Country Place, Avon, Ohio

Attire: We encourage “dressing up” but as always, come however you wish

Registration: RSVP via Realm or contact church office

Other Ways to Participate in Our Legacy Gala

Legacy Fund – At Pastor Kelly’s request, we have set up a Legacy Fund at the church. After much thought and prayer, she has determined that dollars contributed to this fund will be used to pay down the ~$400,000 mortgage debt on our beautiful sanctuary, which was constructed under her tenure and has served as our place of worship, respite, love and hope for the last 19 years. Our current mortgage payment is $7,100/month ($85,000/year). Once we are debt free, we can then redirect those significant dollars to more mission, new programming, facility improvements and everything else that God will be calling our church to do in the future. You can contribute here and for those interested in making gifts of stock or larger asset/estate planning transfers, please contact Kelly Smolik.

Love Gift for Pastor Kelly – Some members have asked how to contribute to a retirement gift for Pastor Kelly. We will be collecting monies from those interested in contributing. The amount received will be used to purchase a memorable gift and/or passed through to her. You can contribute here.

As you can see, there is a lot of momentum around this unique event and celebratory year of transition in our church. All this, in addition to the incredible work our congregation and staff do every day. Additional updates will be provided by Kim and the planning committee in the weeks to come. I hope you are able to participate in one or more ways!
