The Frisco Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced its support for Collin College Proposition A, a $600 million bond proposal that will appear on the November 3 ballot.
What the Bond Would Fund
The bond would invest in workforce and academic facilities across Collin County, including a significant project at the Frisco Campus. The proposed Health Sciences expansion would create additional space for high-demand programs in endoscopy and occupational therapy, along with doctoral and graduate-level pathways offered in partnership with a regional university.
“One of the clearest connections between Proposition A and the business community is workforce capacity. Businesses depend on access to people with the skills required to grow, and that workforce pipeline includes more than students entering their first jobs. It also includes current employees building new skills, earning additional credentials, and moving into new roles as industries change," said Christal Howard, President/CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.
Howard added, "Proposition A would expand training capacity in more than 20 high-demand career fields, including additional health sciences space here in Frisco. Our Board of Directors considered the proposal through that workforce and business lens, and through the long-term role education plays in our regional economy.”
Why the Chamber Supports It
The bond directly aligns with the Frisco Chamber’s strategic pillars:
-
Talent & Workforce: Expands training opportunities for high-demand careers and helps employers address critical workforce shortages.
-
Business Ecosystem: Strengthens the talent pipeline organizations need to grow, compete, and invest in our region.
-
Community Vision Leadership: Plans proactively for Collin County’s continued growth through collaboration and long-term investment.
-
World Class Chamber: Reflects our commitment to advocacy that delivers meaningful, measurable community impact.
The bond also advances the Frisco Chamber’s legislative priorities by supporting investments in higher education, workforce development, reskilling, research, and educational pathways aligned with employer needs, particularly in healthcare and other industries facing workforce shortages.
By the Numbers
- $600 million: Total value of Proposition A
- $1.1 billion: Collin College’s reported impact on the local economy
- 31%: Increase in credit enrollment over the past 10 years
- 62,000+: Students served annually
- 20+: Career and technical education pathways included in the proposed expansion
Collin College also reports that its tax rate has remained at $0.08122 since 2018 and is anticipated to remain at that rate if the bond is approved. Individual tax bills may still change based on property values.
The Bottom Line
Supporting Collin College Proposition A means investing in the talent, infrastructure, and educational capacity needed to keep Frisco and Collin County competitive for years to come.
