Greetings!
A video surfaced last week in which Fed Chair Jerome Powell acknowledged and applauded the recent launch of October as National Economic Education Month, an awareness initiative spearheaded by our friends at the Georgia Council on Economic Education-- one that all economic educators are excited to see take hold. In this video clip, Chairman Powell emphasized that “At the Fed, we take the value and responsibility of public service pretty seriously, and there really is no greater contribution to the common good than teaching.”
We wholeheartedly agree and are grateful to economic and personal finance educators everywhere for their tireless work, focusing on how best to empower their K-12 students. Understanding that economics provides the framework and thought discipline through which opposing viewpoints can be critically examined, we are dedicated to preparing teachers so that their students can learn to effectively analyze the world in which they live.
See what the CEEE has planned to help spotlight this new month of important awareness, page through our 2020-2021 annual report accomplishments, and read on about this past summer's highlights. We also invite teachers to take a look at our full academic year calendar to explore what other professional learning and student programming we have planned. We continue to invite speakers who offer innovative programs, foster research that promotes more effective teaching methods, and share meaningful lessons that apply to current events-- all in our effort to raise more cognizant, responsible, and contributing citizens.
We are truly thankful for our many partners with whom we stand as we tackle this important work. Without you, meaningful economic education could not take place.
Onward,
