RCIA Roundtable Event

EMMANUEL...God With Us

The Gospel of Matthew in the Liturgical Year

Matthew's Gospel begins with a statement from Isaiah: "Emmanuel...God is with us" (1:23). The same Gospel ends with a similar statement of God's continuing presence: "I am with you always, until the end of the age" (28:20b). We're invited to hear and believe God's word beginning with the apostles and continuing down to us and to the end of time. This year's Lectionary Cycle (A) draws primarily on this Gospel of God's continuing presence.

Join Mark Hoggard, Pastoral Associate at Immaculate Conception in Hampton, to explore how this Gospel is arranged in the Lectionary narrative to serve the liturgical year, and how can we who hear and believe go out and share this Good News with "all nations."

This workshop will be virtual on Zoom.

Two dates and times to choose from:

Thursday, December 1 at 7:00pm

Tuesday, December 6 at 10:00am

Workshop is open to all who lead others in the study and prayer of Scripture, including adult faith formation catechists, deacons and priests. Please share this opportunity.

Get Ready for an Influx of Seekers!

Advent and Christmas bring out the "good" and "hoping" in people. Don't miss the opportunity to share with "visitors" the truth, beauty and hospitality of our faith and your parish community. RCIA Teams and Liturgical Ministers are uniquely poised and gifted to welcome those who seek.

Heralds of Faith Catechist Gathering

Gathered with 250 catechists from throughout the Eastern Vicariate, Bishop Knestout celebrated mass and blessed the catechists in their ministry. It was a joyful morning of inspiration, learning and fellowship. We thank Loyola Press for their sponsorship of our keynote presenters, Joe Paprocki and Adrian Herrera, and the staff at St. Gregory the Great who assisted in making this event such a success. Click here to see more photos.

All catechists of children, youth and adults were invited. If you are a catechist in the Eastern Vicariate who did not receive an invite, please speak with your parish formation leader to be registered for the catechist training program and be included in future events.

Next year Heralds of Faith will be in the Central Vicariate.
