“On Artificial Intelligence: The Opportunities and Limitations of Applying LLMs in Professional Occupations with Emphasis on Language Translation"

with Noah Caldwell-Gatsos

18 May 2024, Saturday

10 AM- 12 PM US Pacific Time

1 PM-3 PM US Eastern Time

The excitement surrounding OpenAI’s release of GPT3 in December 2022 has caused a tremendous surge of new interest and investment in automated technologies.

As with any opportunity, this rush of excitement has prompted a large amount of exaggeration and misunderstanding across professional occupations, particularly in digitized, white collar work.

This presentation organized by TAALS will introduce some of the basic terminology and functionality behind these systems, go over their current capabilities & limitations, and then cover some of the trends and challenges the presenter noticed in applying these systems to business in 2023 (with an emphasis on translation),

The presenter will discuss how these systems may improve in the next 2-3 years, and will include time for Q&A.
