NEWS & UPDATES
News from the Capital Campaign
We are very pleased to announce that Lett Architects will be moving our Living Building project into formal architectural drawings, illustrating what the final ‘look’ and features of the building will be.
Living Buildings are the most rigorous standard for sustainable and green design in the world. Camp Kawartha’s Living Building would be one of the first in all of Canada. Replacing our old and energy inefficient dining hall and adding accessible sleeping accommodations, our Living Building will produce more energy that it uses, emit zero carbon, use non-toxic materials and will integrating nature into the building’s design, both inside and out. This project will be a showpiece to Province and Nation what is possible in sustainable design.

News from the Pathway to Stewardship and Kinship
One of Camp Kawartha’s many community initiatives is the Pathway to Stewardship and Kinship collaboration. With over 50 organizations involved in its design and launch, the Pathway Project has entered into an exciting pilot phase this fall.

Children hatching and releasing Monarch butterflies; volunteers learning how to be nature mentors; Early Years educators learning nature songs, rhymes and stories for preschoolers – these have all happened this fall under the umbrella of launching the Pathway project in local centres.
Kawartha Chamber of Commerce Team Building
Earlier this month, members of the Kawartha Chamber of Commerce joined us for an evening of Team Building as part of their Business Owners Sharing Solutions sessions.
Thank you to everyone who joined us that evening.

SUMMER CAMP
A Story from Ireland
Stories from campers and even parents are important because they give us a perspective on how we perform whether it’s with our school programs or our summer camp. We recently heard from a parent with a gratifying yet comical take on the impact of Camp Kawartha.

I wanted to send a card to Camp Kawartha. My kids had the absolute best time they’ve had in their lives with you all. In fact it was to my detriment. I had them enrolled in a local sports camp back in Ireland when we returned... they were so underwhelmed, Sonny did one day and didn’t want to go back. He asked if we could just go back to Canada instead!
Jamie Lyon, Ireland

Thanks for the letter Jamie, and sorry we ruined your summer plans for the kids!

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Take Your Students Outside!
Research shows that being outside provides us with numerous benefits -- physical, mental, emotional and even social. Camp Kawartha delivers on these benefits with immersive programs and experienced, professional staff!

We know that not every family can afford to pay for a class trip, and that not every teacher can raise all the funds necessary to take their class on a trip. Camp Kawartha is here with a special offer. From November through to March we are offering a special subsidized rate for students in need.

See our website for further details and share this with teacher and families you think may be interested.
