THE ESSENTIALS – Lent sermon series (today through Easter)
We all have lots of beliefs, opinions and ideas. This is true in every area of our lives—politics, sports, arts, music—and it is true in our Christian faith. We Christians often talk about the “essentials” and the “non-essentials” of the gospel. Most Christians would say their opinion on drinking alcohol, or eating meat, or worshiping with certain types of music, or certain theological ideas like modes of baptism, or the prevalence of certain sign gifts, are non-essential. We may have strong opinions on these topics, but we recognize that sincere Christians have different opinions. But have you ever asked yourself, "What are the essentials of the gospel?" If there are many non-essentials, what are those core beliefs that define the essence of the gospel?
In this seven-week sermon series, we are going to explore the essentials of the gospel and ask if our faith is built on the ideas that matter the most.

CHILDREN'S CONSIGNMENT SALE
Saturday, March 11 from 8am–2pm
Our Spring Children's Consignment Sale is just two weeks away! This community outreach event brings people from all over Northern VA through Christ Church's front doors to buy gently-used children's clothing, toys, media, furniture and much more. For many this is a first impression of Christ Church, or even church in general. It also serves the community in so many ways—supplying affordable kid's items to thousands while providing an opportunity to recycle outgrown items and recoup costs for others, and leftover items are donated to charity after the sale.
Consider donating a small amount of time to serve. Hundreds of volunteers team up to promote, organize, set up, host and tear down this massive event. Contact Reby Hopler at rhopler@christchurchva.org with questions.
