Hello Tolt families!
I cannot believe we are in May! We have had so many awesome things to celebrate around here. Our Technology Student Association did so well at their state conference and competition, our Band and Choir both earned Superior at their music festivals, plus our National Junior Honor Society is running a school-wide food/hygiene drive. Time flies when you are having fun--proud to be a Tolt Bear!
A friendly reminder that state testing is coming up during the month of May. All students will take the SBA in English Language Arts and Math, and 8th graders will take the WCAS in science. Your help in ensuring your student is at school and ready to do their best on testing days is appreciated.
I also want you to be aware of a shift in the use of PE locker rooms. Students in PE started their class period in the locker rooms to change clothing and then headed into the gym. We were finding that the majority are not using the locker room and it has been a challenge monitoring both the gym and the locker room. We have shifted to students starting off in the gym and the few students who need access to change are given that opportunity. Long story short, the locker rooms are not closed and students who need access to them can use them. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Have a great weekend!
Scott

NJHS Food Drive
The Tolt National Junior Honor Society has been holding a Spring Food/Hygiene Drive. They have been busy collecting and counting the donations (collected through 1st period classes) for our school wide competition benefiting those in need in Duvall and Carnation. It has been wonderful seeing all the donations provided by Tolt families!

8th Grade Student Athlete Requirements for
Cedarcrest High School
As 8th grade student athletes look ahead to transitioning to Cedarcrest High School, please be aware that in order to be eligible for fall sports at CHS, students must pass all 4th quarter classes at Tolt. There is an option to take summer school to make up for any failed classes and clear eligibility. If failed classes are not made up, at minimum, students will be ineligible for competitions until the first grade check at the end of September at CHS. Grades can be checked regularly in Skyward.

PSA! Our weather has started to shift significantly -- being outside is joyous and there are a few things to think about as your family enjoys the weather. The river is cool and inviting on hot days AND it is running high, fast, and cold. It is so important to practice river/water safety – wearing life jackets, staying out of the water in fast areas, and having the ability to warm up quickly after being in the water. If you’re enjoying the sunshine be sure to wear sunscreen, a hat, have lots of water, and take breaks from the sun. As we approach Duvall Days and the 4th of July fireworks become more accessible, be sure to practice safety when interacting with fireworks! Keep your distance, NEVER hold a firework or have it on your body, make sure you have the right to light fireworks, and have water and/or fire extinguisher at the ready to prevent fire. Be safe, make good choices, and have fun!
The end of the school year is quickly approaching, and you can get a jump start for next year! Check the Tolt School Nurse website to see everything you need to do to prepare for next school year! This includes well child checks, sports physicals, immunizations, and more. Be sure to look through all the things needed to prepare your child for next school year to avoid any potential missed school days. Please reach out to Nurse Rachel if you have any questions.
