Spring at the Bennington Public Library

Spring is just around the corner and we are ready! Be sure to checkout our regular toddler & preschool, elementary, teen, and adult programming, as well as upcoming special events.

NFWC District II Art Show

Register by February 28, 2025

Deliver your art by March 15, 2025


We are excited to work with the Bennington Woman’s Club in promoting the Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs District II Art Show!


Artists grade K-12 in the Bennington area are encouraged to enter. Select pieces will represent Bennington at the NFWC District II Art Show, held in Bellevue on Saturday, March 22. For more information, visit our website or call the library at 402-238-2201.

Book Madness


Book Madness has hit the Bennington Public Library! Which Young Adult or Middle Grade book will reign champion? Brackets can be found at the library or on our website starting March 1. Turn in a completed bracket to the library by Saturday, March 8 or email it to info@benningtonlibrary.org.


Voting begins in person at the library on March 10, or vote via our Instagram Stories each Wednesday through April 5. Winners will be announced April 7.

Cat Cafe

Saturday, March 29

9:30 AM-11:30 AM


Felius Cat Cafe will be at the Bennington Public Library for Coffee & Kittens on Saturday, March 29 from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM. Visit with adoptable kittens and other cat lovers.


If you are interested in adopting, please get pre-approved through Felius's website before the event. The Cat Cafe is open to friends ages 7 and up. See you there!

Calling all teen crocheters! Join our crochet corner at the library, 1st and 3rd Thursdays. Drop in anytime 4:30 PM-5:30 PM. Supplies are provided and all abilities are welcome!


Second Saturday Craft Circle

2nd Saturday of the Month

10:00 AM-12:00 PM Social Crafting (Bring Your Own Project)


We are excited to partner with Third Space Omaha for our Second Saturday Craft Circle, a new event for all types and skills of crafters. From 9:00 AM-10:00 AM, learn a new crafting skill. From 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, work on your own crafting project or just sit and visit with other crafters. Materials for the group project will be provided, and you can leave with something you made! Bring your own project for social crafting time.

Teen Book Clubs

Various Dates & Times


Teens are welcome to join our Book Club held at the library the 2nd Tuesday of the month during Teen Time from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. Come talk about your latest read and get recommendations from other teen readers!


Bennington Pubic Library also partners with Bennington Middle School and Bennington South Middle School to facilitate book clubs for BPS middle school students in the school library on B Day Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Seed Library


The Community Seed Library is stocked and ready to use as you plan your spring and summer garden! Visit the Seed Library in the entrance foyer of the library. Thanks again to Badger Buddies 4H Group & Roberts Nursery for providing this resource!

Summer Library Internship

Applications Open March 17


The Bennington Public Library is excited to offer a summer internship to an interested high school or college student. This experience will introduce the intern to varied areas of library work. Hours are flexible, but our intern can expect to be at the library approximately 8-10 hours a week, depending on schedule and library needs. Funding for the project is supported in part with state funds allocated through the Nebraska Legislature and administered by the Nebraska Library Commission, in partnership with the Nebraska Library Systems.


Applications will be available on our website beginning Monday, March 17.

Summer Reading 2025

June 1-July 31


Color Our World this summer at the Bennington Public Library! We are excited to host special guests, read books together in Storytime, and so much more! Plus, earn reading rewards and a chance to win prizes by participating in our Summer Reading Challenge.


More information about registering for the Summer Reading Challenge, as well as the full schedule of programs and events, will be posted on our website soon.

Join the Friends of the Library


The Friends of the Bennington Library is a volunteer organization committed to promoting the interest and welfare of the Bennington Public Library. Volunteers help with Library events, fundraising efforts, and all other aspects of the Library's mission.
