A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Cape Fear Community College
Dear Sea Devil Community,

It is hard to believe CFCC has reached the midpoint of the Spring semester. Students are beginning to think about summer plans, and we've begun registering new students for summer and fall classes. If you know someone who is considering CFCC for their educational journey, please share the news about CFCC's Spring Open House events. We encourage everyone to join us and discover the programs that CFCC offers, meet the faculty and staff, and tour our campuses.

We are proud to announce the launch of a new program, Medical Laboratory Technology. The application period is open now for the upcoming fall semester. Seats in our Health Science programs generally fill up quickly, so please urge those who might be interested to apply.

Another way we are helping students prepare for their next step is by expanding our Apprenticeship programs. We recently recognized 17 new Automotive Technician apprenticeship partners who will help our students learn on the job. These valuable partnerships help our students learn best practices to help them succeed in the workplace after graduation. CFCC apprenticeship programs are beneficial to students, employers, and the community.

As always, more information about our programs and services can be found at CFCC.EDU for more information.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Jim Morton, CFCC President

CFCC Announces New Program for Fall 2022
The Medical Laboratory Technology program, slated to start in fall 2022, will offer students the opportunity to train for careers as medical laboratory technicians. CFCC is among the first 16 community colleges in the state to offer the program.

"Cape Fear Community College continually looks for opportunities to add programs that will benefit our student body and employers in the Cape Fear region,” said CFCC President Jim Morton. “The Medical Laboratory Technology program is an important addition to our Health and Human Services division. Thank you to our 2022 Apprenticeship Partners!
CFCC recently hosted an Appreciation Day Event to thank the 2022 Automotive Technician Apprenticeship Partners. Apprenticeships are mutually beneficial to local employers as well as our community. New Courses at CFCC
Cape Fear Community College collaborated with five area employers including Cape Fear Public Utility Authority and GE Hitachi to develop a 110-hour long Chemical Operator course. This course is designed to provide basic preparation for entry-level process technician jobs in bioprocess manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and chemical manufacturing. The projected start date for this class is June 2022.

Cape Fear Community College worked with NCINO, LiveOakBank, Grover Gaming, ThermoFisher Scientific, and OpiAID among other local employers to develop three courses designed to prepare students for employment with these employers. The first class started with 14 students and will run till 5/2/22.

The start dates for the other 2 classes are to be announced.

From Our Graduates

"I chose to take this program and become a truck driver because I wanted to travel, but get paid for it. Things just fell in place and before you knew it my husband and I already had a job! It was kind of a retirement plan because our original plan was to travel in an RV. We got jobs as truck drivers at Schneider National, Inc. We are flying to Phoenix, Arizona to start training on March 14. I plan to create a VLOG about our experience."
