Carville, Matalin to Keynote

GCR's 2026 Convention

Well-known political and policy experts—and husband-and-wife duo—James Carville and Mary Matalin will be the keynote speakers at the ReMA Gulf Coast Region (GCR) summer convention. The keynote session—June 18 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside—promises to offer a well-informed and balanced political and policy discussion on timely national and international issues.

Given the turbulent and unprecedented events happening in the U.S. and abroad, you don’t want to miss this dialogue!

Both Carville and Matalin have long and distinguished track records in politics, media, entertainment and more.

As a political consultant, Carville—nicknamed “The Ragin’ Cajun”—helped numerous candidates win important state and national elections, including Robert Casey, Wallace Wilkinson, Frank Lautenberg, Zell Miller and Bill Clinton. More recently, Carville has assisted with campaigns in more than 23 countries in South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. His resume also includes being a best-selling author, actor, producer, talk-show host, speaker and restaurateur. In addition, Carville teamed up with Stanley Greenberg to found Democracy Corps, an independent, nonprofit polling organization, and he co-hosts the weekly Politicon podcast Politics War Room with journalist Al Hunt.

Matalin’s decades of experience and commonsense, data-based discourse have made her one of the country’s foremost and seasoned voices across a diverse spectrum of political, policymaking and multimedia platforms. In politics, she has served as adviser, counselor, chief of staff and campaign manager for U.S. presidents and vice presidents as well as federal, state and local leaders of both parties. Her media experiences have included hosting her own award-winning television and radio shows, penning several national best sellers and publishing dozens of renowned authors as editor-in-chief of Threshold Editions, the line she founded at Simon & Schuster. She also has appeared in multiple critically acclaimed documentaries, television shows and movies.
