How Y’s Men Leadership Works – And How You Can Plug In

Nominees for officers and directors for the Y's Men 2026 - 2027 season have just been voted upon. How were they nominated, how long will the new officers and directors serve, how can members get on the ballot? Here are answers to these and other questions about how Y's Men leadership works. We hope you use them to become involved in steering the future of the Y's Men.

  • A Nominating Committee (President, Immediate Past President, and the other past presidents) proposes a slate of officers and directors each year; and all members vote in person or by email.

  • Terms are one year, and many officers move up a “ladder” over time, which gives us both continuity and new leadership.

  • The best way to get noticed for future leadership is simple: show up at Thursday meetings, be active in hikes, pickleball, clubs, trips, and other activities, and introduce yourself to activity chairs and Board members.

  • We especially need help now with the weekly newsletter and our technology/website projects; contact Communications Chair Dick Kalt or Technology Chair E. Bruce Borner if you can lend a hand.

  • T&E (Trips & Events) is always looking for new ideas and “new blood” for museum visits, sports, theatre, and other outings; contact T&E Alan Zimbard or Bob Mitchell.

  • There are plenty of hands‑on roles too: The Memorial Day float is recruiting for help now, contact Baxter Urist, weekly coffee crew, speakers committee, Community Service projects, and more — if you’re interested and need guidance, talk to President Mike Boyle, 1st VP Nabil Atweh, 2nd VP Allan Siegert, Membership Chair Harvey Luft, or Community Service Chair Jim Marpe.
