Take a look at neighborhood focus areas

Preview how plan will address local priorities in key locations

The Near Northwest Area Plan steering committee is wrapping up its review of the draft plan this week with a look at neighborhood focus areas.

These are places that community members identified as important and where additional guidance is needed to ensure that future changes and investment benefit the surrounding areas and reflect what locals want to see. Neighborhood priorities range from creating community gathering spaces where they don't exist today to addressing large barriers to getting around within a neighborhood.

This coming week, city staff and the plan steering committee will review the focus areas in the neighborhood chapters of the draft plan that will be posted for public review next month. The public is invited and encouraged to join the meeting to observe the discussion.

About the Steering Committee

The steering committee is a group of residents, local business owners and representatives of neighborhood groups and community organizations from every neighborhood in the planning area. Their role is to help guide the planning process, support public engagement and help create consensus at key points in the process. Meetings are open to the public, and all community members interested in staying up-to-date on the planning process are invited to attend and observe.

About the Near Northwest Area Plan

The Near Northwest Planning Area is made up of the Northwest Denver neighborhoods east of Federal Boulevard: Chaffee Park, Sunnyside, Highland, and Jefferson Park. As part of the Neighborhood Planning Initiative, this project provides an opportunity to create a long-term vision for these neighborhoods that furthers citywide goals and priorities while addressing local neighborhood needs.
