THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP

January 18, 2026

SCRIPTURE LESSON:

 John 1:29-42

MESSAGE:

“Spirit, Descend”

Happening This Week

Baptism: By Water and the Spirit

This Sunday in worship, our will include a service of baptism for some of our youth who are prepared to make their commitment to follow Jesus, an event made visible by public profession and immersion in water. Our message this week will speak to our profession of faith the Jesus is the one on whom the Holy Spirit rests, the Lamb of God and teacher we are invited to follow, based on John 1 in which Jesus calls and invites his first disciples to "come and see."

Please be present with us to celebrate this reception of new members by water baptism, and pray with us that the Holy Spirit will rest upon us and fill us for God's service. Worship begins at 10:30 AM as usual, and baptisms will take place near the conclusion of our worship service.

As you are walking through the gathering area, please take a moment to enjoy the beauty and details of these quilts.

York First Church of the Brethren - Gathering Space Bulletin Board Ministry

Thank you to Kathy Kovacs and Jeanette Brickner for the beautiful bulletin board in the Gathering Space.

Patricia Carey is the Witness Team appointment for the Cash for Causes program. Please see Patricia before or after worship to purchase your Giant or Weis gift cards. Patricia will be at the table under the bulletin board in the Gathering Space.

You may purchase the cards in amounts of $100, $50, $25, or $10. The cards make great gifts, especially at holidays. Consider donating cards to the Food Pantry or using them yourself any time you shop at Giant or Weis.

Since 2011, through the Cash for Causes program, the church has received 5% of sales to support various COB and local ministries. In 2024 the gift card sales supported The Lehman Center, New Community Project and the Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry with each receiving $233.08. For 2025, the Witness Team will review past giving and determine which agencies we will support this year.
