Greetings!
Thank you for your interest in the December 4, 2020, AFRICOM webinar. The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF — US section) was one of its sponsors, and this is our invitation to you to join us in another future webinar with WILPF’s African sections and to become a WILPF member, if you are not already.
The world’s nations stand on moving sands. When a democratic society slides backwards into authoritarianism, nationalism, or religious fanaticism, most people lose – and women lose more.
We clearly saw an erosion of human rights during the Trump presidency. Will that continue due to a security crackdown in response to the attempted January 6 coup against U.S. democracy? An even greater threat is the ever present possibility that nuclear weapons may be launched. This is a vital time for us to work together in local, national, and global activism and global solidarity.
We want to embrace pluralism and complexity, because in the long run embracing these will make us and society stronger and more enduring.
Each of us is unique and complex, just like our communities; we need to have the freedom to express ourselves with our complexity, without violence.
Find your advocacy and action home with WILPF, where we expand our minds and act on issues through our campaigns of Cuba & the Bolivarian Alliance; Women, Money & Democracy; Disarm/End Wars; Advancing Human Rights; Middle East Peace & Justice Action; Earth Democracy; and more: see wilpfus.org.
