The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Luke 5:1-11

The call of the disciples. It should not surprise us that Luke tells the story of the call of the disciples in a unique way...in fact, he may not call them at all! There is teaching and a miraculous catch, a confession of sin, to which Jesus says, 'Do not be afraid, from now on you will be catching people.' Rather than wondering if we would follow Jesus if he called, we now have to wonder if we can face our fears in order to get about the work of catching people.

God, through Jesus You invite us to face our fears in the face of your abundance. Help us to focus on our work of fishing for people. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thanks to the GLC’ers who have alerted us about text messages and emails they have been receiving from "Pastor Trudy" (and other creative forms of her name).

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done except to remember that Pastor Trudy will NEVER ask for things like gift cards or account numbers. If you’re ever uncertain, a call to Pastor Trudy or the office should clear it up quickly. Thanks for your understanding.

• We pray for all who are face significant challenges to their health, whether physical, emotional or spiritual.
• We lift up those who are struggling with mental illness, including the stigma that still lingers in our society.
• Help us to remember the faithfulness of the departed as we navigate our own paths of discipleship.

• We pray for Diane and Steve Hitzemann following Steve’s cancer diagnosis.

Trusting in your mercy and grace, we lift up all of our prayers to you. Amen.
