Meet Anna:
Anna grew up in a normal, middle-class household but her family was not big on higher education or achievement. She always worked jobs with little opportunity for advancement. Anna knew there was something more, she just did not know how to go about getting it. She fell in with the wrong crowd and was eventually arrested. After serving her time, she attended a job fair at Goodwill Dallas and submitted an application. Before her arrest, Anna had risen to the position of keyholder and shift leader, but thought those days were over. To her surprise, she was invited to interview and was offered the assistant store manager position. Today, Anna proudly holds a position of trust and responsibility at Goodwill.
Anna says “I am a beneficiary of Goodwill’s mission to change lives, one job at a time, and I am also participating in the mission by impacting the lives of my co-workers and customers. I still have to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. I have my dignity back!”
